I remember the drive to this resort from the airport to be 2-3 hours. Our driver stopped at a restaurant along the way that was super good. I wouldn’t worry about your trip. Costa Rica is very safe, unlike some of the neighboring countries. As a whole, the people realize that tourism dollars bring money for everyone. And as far as driving through the jungle, it isn’t that much of a jungle that you may have in your mind. You will be traveling on a paved road that has residence and business along the way, although they are a little more “third world” than you may be accustomed to. My main suggestion it to make sure you have a driver and don’t rent a car and do the drive yourself. A driver should cost around $225 I think to this resort. And you can always get a driver as soon as you step outside of the bag check area of the airport if you don’t find one ahead of time. Take advantage of the driver and have them stop at a market in la Fortuna before you get to your hotel for water, drinks, and snacks. This hotel is all inclusive but also very expensive. I think breakfast buffet was like $40. I hope this helps.
