If you want a place really close to the park, this is a good choice My fiance and I stayed here multiple times and we were satisfied. It seems a little run down and the toilets don't flush very well, but it worked for what we were needing and it was a good price.

I came to this hostel because of positive reviews of other travelers, but I can not recommend this place.. Althought the owner is lovely, the place is really run-down. With holes, craks and bugs everywhere. The kitchen and bathroom, were the worst I have seen in my (half year) travel through central america. Thought the place is kept clean, it... More

Nice garden to relax in with hammocks to laze away the hours. The kitchen is super handy as food prices are high in Cahuita. The rooms are clean but a little past their best days, though fine for a short stay. The owner is really lovely and will make you feel welcome, along with her ginger cat and other random... More

I have visited the Caribbean coast in Costa Rica many times, staying primarily in Cahuita. This is the first time we stayed at the Secret Garden and we have had a wonderful stay. The vibe here is relaxed and serene. Although the hotel is near the centre of Cahuita, the gorgeous garden surrounding it truly gives the feeling that you... More

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at the Secret Gardens. It was very quiet and peaceful apart from the howler monkeys in the morning which only added to the experience. It's in a quiet corner of town that's a 5 minute walk to everything; beach, groceries, national park, liqour and bus stop. The price is great for budget... More

This hostel is very cute. We are a group is three backpackers who stayed in a dorm room with one other roomie. This hostel has a lot of wildlife and plants around it. It's next to the The White Beach and is close to the national park. You can hear howler monkeys and waves from the kitchen/eating area. It's a... More

Quiet hostel, close to the entrance of the cahuita nature reserve. Beaches and centre in walking distance. Upon arrival we were offered a private room for the same price (instead of the dorm we had reserved) since it was free. Nice host, that gave a lot of tips. The toilets didn't flush very well though. The showers had warm water,... More

We stayed 4 nights at Secret Garden in a private room with Private Barhroom and we loved it. Then room was huge, had mosquito net over the bed, fan and fresh towels. We had a peek into some of the empty rooms and each has a different theme and design giving them a very homely feel. The Dutch owner was... More

Our room which was a double faced the pretty garden. There was access to a small communal kitchen, were they offer free coffee, sugar and oil which is very kind. After we went out to do some shopping we found out that one of the rooms was leaking pretty bad. We asked to move to a other room, but also... More

We rented a room for two nights at the hostel. The owner and the guy working there seemed quite nice. Rooms are mediocre and the secret garden as well. We didn't care much however, since we are not very picky and we didn't stay for very long. Our biggest problem was security. The doors have a terrible locking mechanism and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located 1 minute from the National Park of Cahuita, also the centre. This is a peaceful place to relax, watching the humming and other birds and butterflies in our garden. We have a terrace with roof, so when it rains you still can sit outside. The howler monkeys come very close in the backyard. ... more   less
