Spent two nights here. On a dirt road. No restaurants nearby. Not really a hotel but rooms in a house. Owner stated that her "kitchen was broken" upon my arrival so I was forced to eat at a nearby overpriced hotel for breakfast. No cooking facilities on the property so I had to drive into Puerto Viejo for dining. Hotel...

Great breakfast with Spanish touch, pan tostado con tomate. This is the perfect place: close to the beach, within the nature, comfortable and very quiet to rest. I would definitely come back as this hotel is perfectly adapted to the environment.

The location is amazing just in front of the ocean. The place is a beachfront house with only a few bedrooms, very cosy and very clean! The breakfast is served on the terrace with a view on the beautiful garden and ocean. The owner is very very nice and helpful. She gave us a ride at night to a restaurant...

This jewel is located right on black sand beach. It's a quaint property with more basic accommodations, but thats what I loved about it. The proprietress is super friendly and helpful with local recommendations. She also makes a mean seasonal jams and marmalades. Ours was an exquisite orange and ginger marmelade. Added benefit of being able to access pool at...

This a very nice little hotel on Playa Negra. It's nothing fancy but pretty charming. The porch upstairs is absolutely lovely. The breakfast is oustanding, healthy and more than enough including fruit, omlette; coffee and avocado. They start serving breakfast at 7:30 am. The owner is great : good mooded and very helpful. The hotel is less than 10 minutes...

First the good stuff. The place is amazingly clean, very beautiful rooms, breakfast is really nice (not included), good shower (albeit the water doesn't come out in loads), friendly people and free water refills. We also enjoyed the free bikes to cycle to the center. Which brings us right to the bad points. The location is really only good if...

For all intents and purposes, this is a hostel type environment. The sea view rooms are very close together; therefore, you hear everything that your neighbor does. You also see/hear them if they're out on the balcony. Has one creep peek into my room late one night; I was still awake and yelled at him. I had the sea view...

Very peaceful, super friendly. The whole house is made out of wood so you can hear people in the neighbor room and the room in which we stayed was littlebit dark. Breakfast is super tasty and absolutely worth the money! But all in all Awesome!

This 4 room hotel is run by two charming Spanish ladies who provide clean and comfortable accommodation along with an excellent breakfast. They do not provide other meals but are located next to a small boutique hotel, Banana Azul, where you are free to use their facilities (small pool and beach loungers, umbrellas etc) as well as the restaurant which...

First of all, let me start with the positives. The owners were super nice and accommodating. The property is cute and it's nice that you can use the amenities of the hotel next door, Banana Azul, including the beach chairs. There was one structural issue with the room, the screens were coming off so mosquitos were coming in. It wasn't...
