Stayed with a group of high school students. Beautiful beachfront to one side of the property, and river front to the other. We say caiman in the river right in front of the property. Beautiful birds, plants and flowers. The property had a nice pool and great hammocks to hangout in. The beach right on the property is known for...

When traveling to other countries, we have to remember that US standards are very different. In my travels, I stayed at five different hotels in various parts of Costa Rica.   Vista al Mar is a very basic hotel located in a very remote and beautiful area. I stayed here with a tour group. Everything was good. I really enjoyed being so close to nature and the ocean. The beach is beautiful, although it's not recommended to swim there as the rip current is so strong. The food was great and was the service. This is about as "in the middle of the rain forest" as you can get ! It's beautiful, remote, and pleasantly empty of any amenities. For some, this is a tropical heaven, for others this will be too primitive of a place. There is no airconditioning, no hairdryers, no alarm clock, no TV, no fridge. There are beds, windows that...
