There could be lots to dislike about this place, but it is fine, if you remember that it’s only for two nights and the visit is about the wonderful Tortuguero in the end. The lodges are fairly basic, but acceptable for a short stay. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms,

Dear Tin586, Thank you so much for your visit to Mawamba Lodge and Tortuguero National Park. We truly appreciate all comments that allow us to improve and make sure everyday we work to offer a better service. The air conditioning in our reception area (the only area where we have A/C) is because the computers, cameras, equipment, etc, etc... require it because otherwise they rust with the humidity and salinity in the area, being that we are so close to the ocean and the humidity in Tortuguero is important. Our personnel of course spends time here as this is their work post, and they are on their work hours, where they shift turns to be ready to assist our guests. The seating arrangements, as we have explained before, have an explanation in our vision as part of being a friendly Lodge, where we intend people to get to know each other, and also share experiences about their daily activities, and the tours happening. Remember, that you all arrive here as a group, and leave the same way. Through this vision, we've seen people becoming really good friends, enjoying the company of fellow travelers and sharing experiences from around the world. Tips are always a token of appreciation, that is not obliged to anyone, no one is forced to put in a tip if they don't want to or think it hasn't been deserved. We do appreciate our guests to thoroughly check their receipts before paying, just to make sure everything is OK and as agreed and consumed, so no mistakes occur, this, as a rule of thumb anywhere you travel. We do our best to make it accurate and correct, but as humans as we are we might make mistakes. If there was an issue with your bill, I am glad you and our staff resolved it. Thank you again for your visit, and for embracing the beauty of this wonderland. Muchas gracias.

Great location. Basic, functional room. Good, basic food with vegetarian options. Wildlife in the hotel grounds and on the beach. The best thing about our experience at the lodge was our guide, the fabulous Laura. Laura's knowledge, energy and enthusiasm made our experience

This is a great place to stay with direct access to the jungle, the beach and Tortuguero village. We stayed for three days and saw plenty of wildlife, from the boat guided trips, on our own walking in the forest and on the beach where we saw green turtles hatching. The rooms are

There are a few superior rooms. These are bigger and have a nice double shower. I've not seen the standard room but we really appreciated the superior room. No TV or airco though (then again do you really go there to watch TV ???)

Hello, both liquid soap and shampoo are provided at Mawamba Lodge. The Lodge is now using a new biodegradable line, supplied by a new company in the Province of Limon. Excellent products, with great aroma, and complying with the sustainable practices. Thank you!

The dinner cruise is a great activity, Departing every night with a minimum of 2 people. Cost is of only $40 per person including the 2 two hour ride and full dinner on board with one drink included plus coffee at the end. Great, unique way to discover the canals. Turtle season is July to October for nesting and then hatching September to early December

Thank you for your question! The standard rooms do not have a hair dryer, but there are some available in reception in case you need one. The quantities are limited. THe standard superior rooms do have a hair dryer in the room. All rooms have a safe. Remember this is a remote jungle Lodge and the rooms don't feature TV or a/c. All rooms have a ceiling fan. Have a great trip
