To miss coming to Tortuguero and experiencing Pachira Lodge would be to miss the whole essence of Costa Rica! You travel by boat for about 1 and 1/2 hours to get there and although we were with a group we never felt over whelmed by crowds The jungle has a humid earthy smell that I just loved. You almost expect...

A special place located in Tortuguero National Park. We had to take a boat ride for 45 minutes to reach the lodge. It is set right in the rain forest amongst the trees and animals. We had 10-20 minutes of rain every 2 hours, and heavy at times, then the sun would come out. Regulary saw sloths, monkeys, and other...

A nice hotel in the nature. We arrived by plane and got into a boat to cross the canal to go to the hotel. We ate breakfast that was good but no more than this. After that, we saw our room, the room are nice but the bathroom is small. There is no AC and no Window (only mesh screen)...

Like other reviewers noted, the hotel is special and you feel close to nature. If you're not a nature lover, well, this hotel is not for you:). Our package included the transportation from our San Jope hotel (bus to the area, and then the boat to the lodge). One thing we didn't like, was that when transferring from the bus...

This is not your typical Hotel. The only way to get here is by boat and it's like moving back in time. No TV or phone in your room. And everyone get's their own cabin equipped with 2 beds and a modern bathroom. I was afraid privacy might be a problem since the rooms only have screen windows (no glass)...

First, the pool was very refreshing, the coffee, delivered to your room was aromatic, mouth watering and did not disappoint. The howler monkeys only scream when it is going to rain! While everyone else went on the zip line tour, we got massages, SHIATSU, mind blowing! with the aroma of the tropical flowers, the jungle breezes and absolute privacy, I...

This was a great experience. After San Jose Tortuguero was our first stop in Costa Rica. The boat trip to arrive at the hotel was fantastic - you really do begin to feel miles from anywhere as there are no roads. We saw monkeys, sloths, birds and crocodiles on our way to the hotel and that's how Costa Rica continued...

Despite its large size, the activities and dining never felt crowded nor was there any queueing. Rooms spacious, if a little utilitarian. Food very good and plentiful in buffet style. Dining and public areas are really well kept and welcoming. Plenty of places to be on your own. The guides were also very good. Activities included boat trips, forest walks,...

The trip out to the hotel through the rivers and canals is a great trip in itself. The hotel has knowledgable guides that take you on tours and show you the wildlife. But my closest experience with howler monkeys was on the grounds of the hotel. They were awesome. The rooms were cool and clean. No A/C but the fans...

Our well-managed Caravan tour brought us here for 2 nights. No luxury but a well designed and maintained rustic facility with friendly, responsive Costa Rican service and decent food. Unfortunately our cabin #1 near the docks and reception suffered sub-woofer booming from the Tortuguero village disco until 3 in the morning. Very poor sleep both nights. If you have to...
