Me and my family visited the Pachira lodge resort last week for a couple of days.
We had great expectations after reviewing their web page!!!

Since Tortuguero is rather remote, accessible only by boat or plane, we were expecting a "jungle bed and breakfast" type property. Instead, it was a well organized 3 day/2 nights tour, which we booked directly with them, and the well maintained property was more like...More
Pachira Lodge was a first leg of our trip in Costa Rica. We’ve been picked up at the hotel in San Jose and boarded a bus to Tortugero. We had a great guide for all 3 days we stayed there, his name was Oliver. He...More
The hotel property is nice and well-integrated into the surroundings. The personal were very friendly and would often come to tell us when they spotted various creatures around the grounds. The meals were slightly above average and ample. On the negative side, the whirlpool wasn't...More

Guess like any trip you just have to be careful and attentive. Wonderful place to visit, lots of wild life and very close to nature. Staff at resort are very friendly and helpful. Enjoy your trip.

Sorry, just saw this. No. Pachira lodge plans all of your activities. It's all inclusive and because of the remote nature of the trip, they plan everything. You can do zips or other activities during free time, but I'd recommend zipping in another CRan town. This is quite a unique experience and with all the activities they had, I chose to lounge by the pool and read.
