The hotel is amazing, the staff is super helpful and kind. They make you feel like royalty. My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon there and they even gave us a room upgrade. The food is wonderful, their restaurant is one of the best in the area. Also, they have a great pool and a macaw reserve, where they teach you about Costa Rican history and the importance of the reserve. We loved it there, can’t wait to go back!

Hotel's Favourite
This is one of the best places in Costa Rica. Excellent service, personalized attention and a staff that is always available to help at any time. The restaurant has world class food, with dishes modified to the Costa Rican culture, it is a true culinary experience. The rooms are very spacious and all are very close to the pool, Spa and Restaurant. The Spa service is incredible (recommended, it is a must), additionally you have to do the Lapas Tour. This is a recommended place.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom villa from Jan 16-23, 2021. Absolutely amazing resort, and we were glad to learn about the scarlet macaw program on site. The villa was perfect, great AC that cools the whole place off within 5 minutes of turning it on, and very hot showers with great water pressure. The owner kindly gifted us the most delicious strawberries we’ve ever tasted with melted chocolate and champagne as a welcome gift our first night. Views are spectacular - watched scarlet macaws fly by from my huge bathroom window! The staff were all beyond excellent - every single person we met was very friendly. The gentlemen remembered our names, asked about our plans for the day, chauffeured us around the property in golf carts, and wore masks the entire time, so we felt very safe at this resort. Cannot even come up with one single con. Chris was great about bringing us towels and drinks at the pool before we could even ask, Ricardo at La Luna restaurant (which is stunningly beautiful with sunset view) remembered us each time and knew I liked my water without ice after I mentioned it once, Gustavo chauffeured us many times in the golf cart and always asked if I got to see the poison dart frogs I wanted to see (finally saw one and it was spectacular to see in the wild at Rainmaker!!), Walter kindly shuttled us around in the van (which is very nice and has AC), and Julio was the best concierge ever and booked us everything we wanted to do (along with giving us his personal cell number to message him any time with anything we needed). Wish we could remember more names, but all the staff were all absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond for us constantly. Luis is a great taxi driver who we were set up with through our concierge Julio - very fair prices and extremely friendly man who taught us some Spanish as we drove around. All the tours Gaia recommended for us were beyond amazing and we loved every single one of them. Laying in the gorgeous infinity pool watching toucans fly by and seeing the monkeys and iguanas was incredible. The resort is stunning with gorgeous flowers everywhere - the scent is constantly in the air and it’s amazing. Surprisingly my allergies didn’t act up at all - perhaps the breezes helped so pollen didn’t settle anywhere, but I breathed great the entire trip. The country is beautiful, the people are so friendly (and thanked us many times for coming to visit and supporting the tourism industry at this difficult time), everyone wore masks and social distanced, all surfaces we encountered the entire trip were sanitized prior, and we had the best vacation ever! Highly recommend

We stayed at Gaia hotel and reserve during the holidays and enjoyed our stay. Our concierge Krishna was excellent and beyond helpful and accommodating. He set us up with two incredible excursions: horse riding and zip lining. I highly recommend doing both there. As for the hotel I was a little disappointed with how outdated it was. The rooms are old and furniture is super old. Aside from the outdated hotel itself the rooms are spacious and we had our own private roof deck which was nice The showers had good water pressure and two sinks. We stayed in room 222 which I recommend. The pool area is nice, with lounges towels and a bar The best part of the hotel is the view. Whether in your room at the restaurant or just walking around you’re immersed in the jungle. I loved waking up to the sound of birds and nature. The gym is well equipped but also very outdated and not too clean. To get from the main entrance to the rooms/lobby it’s a steep hike which I enjoyed during the day. They have golf carts around the clock. La Luna restaurant was good, not the best but we had breakfast included and they are very accommodating. We only had dinner there once and it was fine. The location is great but if you’re looking for a luxury 5 star hotel I wouldn’t recommend here. If you’re looking for a decent hotel, great views location and great service this is your place.

Our family of 4 (2 teens) stayed at the Gaia Hotel for several days. It is a beautiful property with lush grounds. However, what made it really stand out was the personal service and genuine warmth shown to us by each staff member. In particular, Gustavo was super friendly and always had the time to go the extra mile to make sure our needs were met (and then some!). We looked forward to our time on the golf cart with him! Everyone there works long hours and must have been tired, but you would be never know it from their positive outlook, their smiles, and their willingness to engage personally with the guests. The concierge Krishne was invaluable and made and rescheduled reservations for us to fit our unpredictable schedule. The companies he booked us with were all reputable and well-run, and he made great restaurant recommendations. We were grateful for the Gaia staff’s help with visiting the public beach. Though it’s only a 10 minute drive and not very crowded on the beach, there are an overwhelming number of men trying to get you to pay to park in their lot, rent their chairs, etc. and it is hard to know who is reputable. The Gaia driver took us on the shuttle and personally handed us over to the person they trust on the beach with rental chairs and he took very good care of us down to delivering drinks. The Gaia pool is lovely and was always serene. Lastly, we enjoyed the hot made to order breakfast and spa services! Thanks to all of the Gaia staff for taking such good care of us and ensuring that our vacation was perfect!
