We stayed at Amor de Mar for 7 nights in Feb/March 2017. Our room facing the ocean was fine. However, the hotel is expensive, even by Costa Rican standards, particularly as breakfast is not included in the price, and a hefty 13% surcharge for paying by credit card left us feeling ripped-off.

I am really sorry you felt ripped off, but I need to clarify a few things. The 13% you were charged is the sales tax you have to pay for every purchase in Costa Rica and is not a surcharge for paying with credit card. Please check the booking website and you will see it says the price plus 13%...

My wife and I spent four nights at Amor de Mar and loved it. Basic but beautiful, our room was on the smaller side but had everything we needed. Loved the grassy area, hammocks, and chairs located between the hotel and the ocean. Location was great. Short, very easy and safe walk to town, and removed from some of the...

This hotel sits right on the main road (which is a rather busy dirt road) but the back of the property is amazingly beautiful and peaceful with great water views and moon rises. It is a short 5 minute walk to the small town of Montezuma. The staff was friendly and everything was very clean and well maintained. We stayed...

Stayed one night in room 3, and it was our last night in CR. Headed back home. I made a few mistakes with this one, the first was not understanding the accommodations better. Booked this through Trip Advisor and not sure it gave the details of room 3. Quite simply you feel like you are in the middle of a...

My friend and I both have hotels in Costa Rica and so appreciated our time at your hotel. Ammie was so very helpful and friendly as were the rest of the staff. We were in room number 8, which was comfortable, clean and had a safe. The food at luhcn was fabulous We enjoyed the grounds, the views and having...

Beautiful hotel with amazing view of the ocean. Very good location. Only a short walk from Montezuma centre and very close to the waterfall. Worth paying extra money for the room with the terrace to enjoy sunrise. Highly recommend.

What an amazing place to stay. It has such a calming environment. There is peace and beauty in every corner. It is a rich classy place for simplicity, which gives a spiritually revitalizing experience. If you are looking for a soothing place to rest your eyes, and subtle beauty to basque in, this is the place. Flowers, plants and greenery...

Amor de Mar is a very special spot located in Montezuma. Of all the hotels in the area, the only one that holds a candle to it is Ylang Ylang. My view is that you should try both, but don't waste your time anywhere else, as these two maintain their charm and tranquility. Amor de Mar is a true boutique...

This was our favourite (of seven) hotels in Costa Rica. The location is magical - the hotel's lovely gardens gently roll down to the sea. It is only a five-minute walk into Montezuma. The hotel and rooms are beautifully furnished with some lovely, clever touches (eg coral and paper lampshades? During our stay, we saw pelicans, lizards, humming-birds and monkeys...

We spent two nights at this hotel that has a wonderful garden facing the sea. The garden is very well kept and we indulged to spend as much as possible here. The room was dark and a bit out of order, while the bath room was renovated but with hot water problems. We have been a bit disappointed that a...
