Loved it at Mariposario - all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Within 10 minutes of arriving we were introduced to the butterflies themselves and the gorgeous dogs who live there. Only disappointment was they had run out of the famous beer brewed on site because of a really busy November, one of the main reasons we came. However... More

We spent 3 nights in the Morpho room which is super cute with the monkey shower curtain and the blue and brown decor. Our room had a small balcony with a view of the butterfly park. In the morning we would see monkeys and all sorts of birds and at night we would see fireflies. I loved all the animals... More

The Mariposario is a lovely place ! We stayed 2 nights at the hotel ! The room was big and really clean ! All the staff is really nice and helpful. A special mention for Camilo the receptionist who gave us all the tips to discover the area and was very helpful for booking our tours. But he is before... More

We loved this place. The food and beer was delicious and the on-site restaurant had a buzz about it in the evening. The staff were really friendly and helpful in booking our transfer to Manuel Antonio. The location is beautiful - one day we were having a beer and a troop of monkeys just appeared in the trees nearby, amazing!... More

The rooms at hotel mariposario clean, cool and comfortable. This B&B offered free clean and well kept rooms, as well as a awesome view of the jungle. It was located a little bit of a walk outside of the town ( up the hills aways) but it was nice quiet. The breakfast was different every morning, and the restaurant( Clandestine)... More

My wife and I have stayed at Montezuma Gardens several times, and it has always been a pleasure. We've watched the Gardens grow from a small, well-run B&B with an amazing butterfly garden, through the addition of Ryan's craft brewery, and more recently of the Clandestina Restaurant, always with the same sense of Pura Vida. I had driven many hours... More

The Mariposario B&B (MB&B) is a remote respite from the hustle and bustle of San José. Located on the eastern side of the peninsula across the bay from Puntarenas and Jacó on the mainland, Montezuma is a beachcomber's delight: small yet full of most if not all of the amenities you may want. The MB&B has two gems that tourists... More

Great place to stay run by super friendly ex-pats (from Portland, OR). We enjoyed the brewery, the restaurant (Clandestina) and the room/balcony very much. One day we even had some Howler monkeys join us for a beer :) I would stay at this place again and again.

We stayed here for one night in March - there are only 4 rooms and they were sold out for a second night stay. To be honest, I'm not sure we would have stayed the second night after the first. The B&B is very out of the way, which for some is nice, I didn't enjoy that. Much too far... More

We are very sorry that you had an atypical experience here at the Mariposario. We do desire that everyone who comes here has a great experience not only at our B&B, but in the entire peninsula. I also regret the malfunction of your air conditioner. We do a lot of preventative maintenance to keep everything in working order in a... More

I lived here for 5 days jan -14 (sorry for the late review) and still one year later I think about how much I want to come back. Beautiful house located a 15 min (steep) walk from Montezuma centre. Peaceful surroundings and a beautiful butterfly garden. Two very happy dogs :) Open welcoming common areas (kitchen, livingroom and terrace) and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Mariposario Montezuma Gardens and Butterfly Brewing Co. A lovely B&B, micro-brewery, butterfly garden, bar and restaurant in the jungle. We are located 1.6 km from Montezuma center at the entrance to the upper waterfall trail. The location is not right in town but in a tranquil area surrounded by mountain jungle.
