We stayed here for a few nights on a trip to take my daughter to Cabuya for an internship. This was our pre and post Cabuya hotel. The staff was lovely and super helpful. The breakfast is fresh and great! The rooftop restaurant/bar was also great and wonderful. The Wifi worked well while we there too. The price is reasonable but the rooms aren't quite as described but they were still nice. We paid for the Superior Room with two beds, living room, and a hot tub. It turns out the living room is two chairs (not a couch like the pictures) and there is no hot tub. There isn't even a bath tub as it is a shower and there is no hot tub on the premises so not sure they advertise a hot tub in these rooms when there isn't one. But it was a nice room just not quite as described on the website). And make sure you make the airport transportation 24 hours in advance (which they tell you to do) and note it isn't free (it is about the same price as taxi service from what we noticed). Overall, good place to stay for the price.

Hi 4438JDtinas! We are sorry to learn about your dissapointment. Our website does not offer bathtubs in any room but in one of our Concept Suites, La Dama Elegante. Please let us know which website you used to make the reservation to make the correction, because we do not want to dissapoint our guests. Regarding the furniture, it varies from one room to another, since not all of them have the same layout. We are glad that everything else was of to your satisfaction.

The hotel is right in the middle of San Jose, so many stores, museums, and markets are within walking distance. We were here for six nights, and did most of our excursions within 10 minutes walking distance of the hotel (great location). Breakfast in the AM is everything you could ask for (a good mixture of typical American breakfast with common Costa Rican foods as well), and EVERYONE is very kind. They have excellent service, they change out your bedding/towels daily, and offer transportation with reservations. If you don't know Spanish, no problem - almost everyone knows communicable English. For the price-range, no American hotel can compete. My only complaints would be thin walls (with minor noise during the night from staff), and an odd A/C schedule (you can't control the temp, and some nights it's pretty cold or warm).

Thank you Tayjaddes for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us! We are sorry about the A/C, but each room has its own unit, so you might had been able to control it. There is a panel in each room from where you can control the temperature.

Although we only stayed one night on flying in to San Jose size, we were impressed by the Hotel Presidente. This is a modern, stylish hotel with reasonably sized rooms; the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with excellent coffee. Worth exploring the rooftop restaurant and bar!

Loved the hotel! It was very cute and trendy, and great location. There is absolutely no parking in the city of San Jose, so this spot is perfect to walk to the main attractions. We did have a car, and they had parking, so it was nice for us to just leave our car there and drive it to the airport when needed. It is about a 30-45 minute drive to SJO. The hotel can be a little difficult to find. The restaurant in the hotel was fantastic! The staff was also very conscious of COVID restrictions, and they had plenty of hand washing stations and sanitizer gel available for guests. Only negative was that the bed was not very comfortable.

We only stayed at the Presidente for one night before a tour of Costa Rica. We arrived in the late afternoon and were very impressed with the public areas of the hotel - the reception is very funky and the breakfast room is beautiful with a wooden mural of the history of Costa Rica. This left us slightly disappointed when reaching our room which was rather basic and smelled musty. We had a small window which didn't look out onto anything. The rooms did not reflect the decor of the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was nice but some things weren't labelled, such as juices and some food, which left us a bit confused. The hotel is centrally located, meaning we had enough time in the morning to explore San Jose's sights. Staff were pleasant and check in and out was speedy.

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Presidente from Feb 12-14, 2020. We had read so many great trip advisor reviews, that we wanted to check it out for ourselves. We are glad that we did.

First and foremost, the customer service at this hotel is above par. I was having difficulty securing the reservation on their website from Canada, however Marcela and Alphonso went over and above to ensure our reservation. Their assistance was greatly appreciated. We paid extra for the airport pickup and arriving into San Jose at 9:30 pm, we are certainly glad we did. It is confusing and chaotic outside at SJO following a long day of travel.

The hotel is situated near the most vibrant areas of downtown San Jose. Walking down Avendida Central during the day is a treat for the senses with all the activity.

The standard room was spacious, and the bed extremely comfortable. The shower had ample hot water. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was a good way to start the day, and there is a nice array of options to choose from.

We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant - Azotea Calle 7. It really is a lovely restuarant, with superb service.

I would highly recommend Hotel Presidente to anyone considering a few days in San Jose. It is a nice independent hotel, and a refreshing change from the numerous chain hotels that can really be found anywhere.

We were so happy to return to our favorite hotel in San Jose after a two year absence due to Covid. Their staff is the best. Special thanks to Jorge, Rodrigo, Roberto, Douglas, Angie, Maria, Alfonso, Lisett, Andrea, Karol and every single employee at this hotel (I know I am missing some names). The hotel is very nice. The rooms are spacious and very clean, however, the staff is the best part of this hotel. Costa Ricans are known for hospitality and friendliness and the Hotel Presidente embodies that. Their customer service to us was outstanding as we have grown accostumed to. From the moment you arrive, to check in, to the cleaning staff, the breakfast staff and the Azotea restaurant staff, they are all great. The breakfast was more than expected in times of Covid. With regards to Covid protocols, this hotel has gone above and beyond. Hand sanitizers available everywhere in the breakfast room and by the elevators and especially the great idea of the hand wash station and body temperature monitor at the entrance before you even get into the hotel. We did not feel inconvenienced - we felt served. One thing we would recommend to the hotel is in suite advertisement of their great Azotea restaurant. There is a TV advsertisement near the elevators but sometimes guests are rushed and many not realize or stop the video and may not be aware that there is an excellent restaurant right on site. We can't wait to return. If you ever visit San Jose, CR, stay here. We highly recommend the Hotel Presidente.

This hotel is not what you expect to find amongst the hussle and bussle of the San Jose streets. It’s modern industrial theme looks great and the staff on reception were really friendly. We told them our check out was early hours the next morning and they arranged for us to have a breakfast bag at departure consisting of orange juice, apple, a sandwich and banana bread. Really nice touch and we appreciated it.

We ate at the roof top restaurant when it opened at 4pm which was amazing! Highly recommend but you need to make a reservation which you can do at the front desk. Really friendly staff again and the food was lovely.

The downside to the hotel…the room was extremely noisy! The walls are practically made of paper and you could even hear the people next door using the bathroom. There was constant noise from the corridors of people moving around, talking etc and the noise from the street was like they were stood in the room with you.

The room also had an empty fridge in and the noise was unbearable! It sounded like it was taking off every half and hour or so! I unplugged it in the end as it too only added to the list of reasons why we couldn’t sleep.

For such a lovely hotel on appearance and food quality, the nights sleep was really disappointing and they need to invest in some serious sound proofing.

Wouldn’t stay here again purely due to the noise issue.

Our superior room was very spacious. The hotel has a super roof top bar and restaurant offering a short menu consisting of some tapas sized dishes and a few larger meals. This was was particularly useful as we were advised that it was not safe to walk to and from restaurants at night in San Jose and we didn’t want to take taxis eveywhere. Book a table to be sure you get to sit outside.

We wanted to stay in San Jose for the night before our two weeks in Costa Rica. This was a super cute hotel with great staff. Parking was a little tight with our rental car but they did a great job helping us park. It was easy to walk around and we went to dinner just a few blocks away that evening. Breakfast was yummy the next morning and we went to the Central Market but got there so early most of the places were still not open. Would highly recommend this hotel for a stay.

2000 to 5000 colones - depending on the total travel cost and time. An hour drive usually comes to about 20,000 to 26,000 depending on traffic. So, 5 to 10 dollars is decent and generous. I don't about Euro. I've noticed that when I tip really well, they tend to give me their business card and you can call them to schedule rides with more efficiency and less worry.
