My boyfriend and I stayed here two nights--one at the beginning of our trip to Costa Rica, and one at the end--so we stayed in two different rooms. On both occasions, the staff were warm and incredibly helpful. They helped us book transportation and gave us general advice about traveling in CR. They also change money (at least, dollars to...

When I travel I like to stay in small hotels. For my trip to San Jose I did my research and found La Amistad. As I walked in the door I felt like walking in a familiar place surrounded by family. The staff is great, the rooms are great, I fell in love with the totally tile bathroom/shower. Matt thanks...

When I first pulled up in the taxi I could tell by just the outside that La Amistad would be something different. Then when I walked into the lobby I knew I was right. Elegant, upscale, trendy and very well maintained. The staff were all pleasant and accomadating. The rooms were very clean and spacious and extremely resonalbly priced. The...

During this trip, I was there for 15 days, the Martini Bar and restaurant had just opened for business making the whole experience complete. Asta who runs...

Not what I was expecting. It is not in a great area. It became rather dodgy as night fell. Not that close to downtown San Jose. Walkable. But take a taxi at night. The place does not have elevators. If you are traveling with some luggage, you will be walking it up flights of stairs. The other review was dead...

Unfortunately all of San Jose is a little "dodgy" after dark. We are in one of Two locations that are the best in San Jose, Amon and Otoya. The rest of San Jose (walking distance to the Center) is much worse. Think New York City in the mid 80's. Taxi after dark regardless of where you are in San Jose...
