This hotel is in a great location in San Jose (eat at Nuestra Tierra down the block!). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are roomy and have a private bath. I would agree with other travelers...location a tad noisy. My only complaint is that we were put in the room right behind the front desk and the...

Let's start with saying this hotel provided us with excellent service, very helpful and kind and gave good restaurant suggestions. Our Tortuguero trip was suddenly cancelled, and late at night they helped us to book a new tour. The room was very spacious, clean and they have their own driver who can pick you up at the airport. We loved...

The hotel staff is wonderful. The owners are always around and the wife, Sylvia speaks perfect english. The hotel is beautifully furnished. And my room large and had huge windows. The location is far enough away from the center of downtown San Jose-but close enough to walk to the casnios, museums, parks and shopping. There is a train that went...

We recently stayed 4 nights in this hotel, at the start of a 6 week trip around Costa Rica. We looked around quite a few hotels in San Jose and were definite we chose the best one! This hotel should be much higher up the list than it is! We stayed in Mariposa, the big room at the back of...

If you are looking for a luxury hotel or the conformity of a chain hotel (where you could just as easily be in Cleveland as Costa Rica), then this is not your place. This hotel is clean, charming and reasonably-priced. My fiance and I don't spend a lot of time in any hotel when we're traveling, we prefer to be...

Our group stayed in the Magnolia room. It was very roomy! It was very nice! The shower did not have hot water and it is next to a big window, but the window is frosted. The staff was helpful. There is an office with 1 computer. The breakfast was small (tea, orange juice, fruit, toast). We did not notice the...

I regularly travel to San Jose CR and I’ve been to la Posada del Museo a few times. I’ve always been more than satisfied and in fact I will go back within a few weeks. This colonial type hotel is decorated with a lot of taste with wooden floors or colonial tiles and bath rooms are simple and super nice(unless...

We thought this was a very nice section of town, and appreciated the informative suggestions of the manager as to restaurants, places to visit in Costa Rica and tourist sights in San Jose. The rooms were very clean, the train did not bother us at all, and the prices were fair. I would definitely stay again if the opportunity arose.

I stayed one night at the magnolia room. It's a great place to stay if you intend to visit the Museo Nacional, as it's right across the street. The house is very historic feeling with excellent old furniture. Unfortunately, the beds are uncomfortable, traffic noise is an issue, and graffiti covers many of the cool old buildings in the area...

This review is not for the hotel itself, but for the small café (Café La Posada) that it owns. Located right next door, the café appears quaint and has a great location. The positives stop there. In a city where an iced tea costs about c400 (less than $1), this café claims to charge c850 with sales tax included. We...
