What a joy to be collected from the Airport and travel through the tiny village of Fare to Pension Tupuna, nestled in bushland along the waterfront of a secluded bay on the fabulously tourist free island of Huahine. No resort trappings at Tupuna, just friendly service and engaging conversation from hosts Franck and Loretta, gorgeous freshly prepared meals served up...

Our stay at the Pension Tupuna was very relaxing. The bungalow was beautiful and comfortable ,and our hosts Franck and Loretta were very friendly and accommodating. The pension property is remote and quiet. The pension is situated on a bay, with shallow water and no wave noise. We did snorkel there, and it was enjoyable, especially if you take a...

Best place to stay at beautiful island Huahine. Many thanks to Franck (owner of pension) for all - outstanding food, beautiful garden where bungalows are and kind approach to us with many useful advices how to make our stay perfect. There's also possibility to rent kayak or scooter and explore the beauty of the island.

There's not much to say except a list of surprises that were waiting for us at the Pension Tupuna in Huahine: - we arrived and dined right away taking advantage of the great talent of the guys managing the Pension. Food was delicious, typical, made with fresh ingredients from their place, and did I say delicious already? - The discussion...

Don't look any further for paradise, you found it ! Tupuna is a great family pension where the place is just amazing and so far away from all the touristic cliches and mass tourism. The four bungalows are home made, all different and all gorgeous. Every morning the breakfast is a feast with fresh fruit straight from the garden and...

Like other reviewers have said, this is very opposite of the resorts you may have stayed at on Tahiti or Moorea. What we loved: Loretta and Franck, the owners were very polite, and Franck would converse with us and ask/answer all questions we had regarding anything from polynesia cultures to weather in Huahine. We had the MOST FANTASTIC coconut wahoo...

We travelled for a month in polynesia and stayed in 7 pensions and this is by far our favourite. First it is secluded so it is so peaceful down there. You can just forget the real world. Every bungalows (fares) are unique and wonderfully decorated. The bathrooms are just the most original and really what I expected from Polynesia. The...

Compared to many excessive battery-farm-hotels on wind- and leeward Islands, Pension Tupuna has the opposite: Real privacy, lovely cabins, fantastic food, friendly hosts and – the best – felt far away from Polynesian overpriced mass tourism. One hour from Pape'ete or just a short parable-flight from Tahiti’s celebrity Bora-Bora, on Huahine we’ve found authentic beauty. Embedded in a lush tropical...

Hi guys, just one note if you are looking for a scuba diving option in Huahine: go to Morgan. His office is in the Tupuna pension, but he can come pick you up in your hotel. Morgan knows his stuff (we saw the sharks and rays he promised...) and the experience is really nice because he is just a great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
All of our bungalows had been traditionally built according to our local custom. To which we have added all the necessities to provide modern comfort. One thing that makes Pension Tupuna stand out from our competitors is the decorative beauty of our bungalows. Every single piece was crafted from local products and handicrafts: seashells, bamboo, coral, local wood, banana leaves, etc. All of our bungalows offer a bathroom with shower and hot water, electricity, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, and wooden furniture. And, most importantly, a beautiful shaded and furnished patio to allow you to take in the view of the lagoon or the garden while drinking your favorite cocktail.Bungalow are situated in the middle of a tropical garden consisted of several hundreds of flowers of any varieties and of about fifty species of fruit trees. The offered breakfasts consist of coffee, tea or chocolate, bread coconut, baguette, butter, jam house and a beautiful assortment of seasonal fruits. The proposed meals at the Pension Tupuna are also particularly appreciated, they consist mainly of fruits and vegetables of our harvest as well as exceptional products of the sea the fishermen of Huahine of which treat us. ... more   less
