Remember when you book that this is a fishing lodge, rather than a resort, hence the five star rating despite the lack of some amenities someone not familiar with outdoorsmen's accommodations might expect. The new rooms on the upper level were simply furnished but very spacious. They were also immaculate. The atmosphere in the bar, where guests gathered before dinner,...

We loved our overnight trip with Great Alaska to view brown bears near Lake Clark National Park. Great Alaska dealt efficiently with air scheduling so we got in the air to the camp as soon as reasonably possible when weather permitted. The small plane flight to and from the camp provided breathtaking views of Cook Inlet and the volcanos along...

We had been going there for 3 years. It is located in a beautiful spot. First year all was great. After that it went downhill. Food was so bad help wouldn't eat it. We also were booked on trips that were a waste of our time. Each year we went back the guides changed because of poor pay and conditions....

You really have to rely on the weather for all of these outings. So, if you only book one day, you could miss out entirely. Great Alaska has no control over this. We were blessed with perfect weather the whole week.( Late August/early Sept. usually raining) We found the place and the people exceptional. Bear camp was a little more...

We had a family reunion with people of all ages at the lodge. All agreed it was excellent. Bear Camp, Fishing, Hikes and Whitewater Rafting were all handled with expert care and we had great weather which made things even better.

In August, we did a one day fishing excursion with our two daughters, two son-in-laws and good friends. The eight of us arrived at the lodge only to find out that the fly fishing we had signed up for was not available after all, (even though numerous previous emails between Steve and our group indicated that was what we were...

8 in group disappointed with one day fishing trip from Anchorage. Requested fly fishing but upon arrival lodge had us set up for spin casting. I had clearly requested fly fishing and discussed level of experience, number of boats, etc with Steve Nickes when booking trip. Lunch provided in package was a small salad with 2 salmon cakes the size...

My son and I recently enjoyed a memory filled father-son fishing trip at Great Alaska. I cannot say enough positive things about the experience. We had a blast fishing Resurrection Bay, the Kenai, and Kasilof Rivers. In the process we hooked halibut, rockfish, Coho salmon, Sockeye salmon, Pink salmon, Steelhead trout, Dolly Varden, and my son's first King salmon that...

Dear Angela: what a wonderful review. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us and others who are researching their trip. We do try hard to mix all of our guests various desires and abilities to create an effortless and easy feel to the trip. I am very proud of our guides and all the...

After spending $30,000 on their services and letting the owner ( Kent) know how bad our experience he was very dismissive. I own multiple businesses and would fire an employee if they treated any of my customers the way he treated us. Can you imagine the owner having this attitude after our sheets were not changed for a week? Being...

Dear Clint: You are mistaken...I was not dismissive - I simply suggested that it was time for you to find another fishing lodge. We spent three years making sure every aspect of your experience was tailored to your incredibly exacting expectations. After hearing that the food (that you chose to have us prepare 6 nights in a row, never to...
