I came to Yap with fairly modest expectations. I was disapponted to see, though, that the #1 hotel in Yap was ant-infested. Our room had ants all over the bathroom sink area that we couldn't even leave our toothbrush cup out without having ants crawling around in it. We had ants in the main area as well (on the desk,...

“Dear GroovieGurlie. I want to sincerely thank you for reviewing our resort. The first line in our Mission Statement says that we want to be the best dive resort in the world and that's what our 85 co-workers strive for. Our standards are high but sadly, we let you down and didn’t meet your expectations, the situation you encountered with...

Best place on the island whether diver or not. Great rooms, restaurant, dive shop. Wonderful staff and generally enjoyable establishment. Provide at reasonable additional charge a tour of the island with references and sites of WWII interest.

From the dirst moments after arrival you know that the journey was worth it, Bill Ackerman (the owner) has worked hard to ensure that your stay at the resort is non stop enjoyment. A special thanks to Charles in the Dive crew who made every dive a special one (especially the sharks at Vertigo!)

The staff and the resort are first rate. The owner oversees all the details of the resort. The diving is amazing from the namesake Mantas to the elusive Mandarinfish. It is especially challenging to get picture of them mating. The restaurant and bar are located on an old ship which adds to the atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and spacious....

Go for the diving but do NOT be swayed by the constant contention that one will see manta rays year-round. Additionally, if you are in the areas where mantas are more prevalent, the coral formations and, especially, the visibility is very marginal. While there are opportunities for macro-photography, this is probably not the best place to go if that's your...

The Manta Ray Bay Resort is a luxury resort on a relatively undeveloped island. Each of the 35 rooms is named after a different sea creature and that animal is featured on the bed spread and shower curtain. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was so refreshing that you wanted to take several each day. The restaurant is...

Perks of staying at Manta include airport pickup and drop off via complimentary shuttle. Manta Ray also offers discounts on their Dives (from the dive shop located on property), a nice though expensive gifts shop, a swimming pool, and of course, the iconic Mnuw boat. Your first night at Manta, you are invited to the top deck of the Mnuw...

Amazing location. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was great. We stayed in the manta room; 2 adults and 2 children and we had plenty of room. Air conditioning was great. Lovely view of the ocean from the room with a small balcony ideal for drying clothes. Restaurant on ship was perfect; food was excellent, and watching the...

Every island in Micronesia has its own lure and YAP is no different. The hospitality at Manta Ray Bay resort was great and the staff very friendly. This was my first time at a dive resort and the experience was awesome. The resteraunt is actually an old ship docked at the resort. The food was great and the local beer...
