We stayed at African Rock for one night before our Safari and again before our visit to Mozambique. We found it a perfect place to relax with lovely gardens beautiful rooms and really good food. We had room 1 and 3 which were both really nice but preferred room 1. The staff were lovely especially the chef who came to...

Thank you for your nice review. Yes, room one is my favorite too, it is the exec suite, more spacious than the others with a private entrance and private little garden which you can overlook from the bubble bath in the bathroom. the view from the bedroom window overlooks the garden and swimming pool. Room 3 with the main entrance...

Stayed for 1 night before and after on our way to Mauritius during our honeymoon. This is a small boutique hotel, is a converted home located in a suburban area. If you are looking for a typical 5 star hotel/resort, this is definitely not that type of place. But this is an intimate and very wonderful small property. We had...

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to write a review! You are right, if you are looking for a large scale multistory hotel at the Airport, that is not us. With only 9 guest rooms and a top restaurant on site which is exclusively for our in house guest we are definitely boutique! The building's first use was...

I had the pleasure of being a guest here for a short 24 hr period but during that time I found the perfect oasis. Location, drivers, staff, meals, rooms, property, etc. All a 10. I found nothing lacking. They even served me lunch out by the pool. The hotel has 9 only rooms and the owner/operator is a couple who...

We spent our last night of our Southern Africa trip in Johannesburg and our tour company booked us at the African Rock Hotel. This was the best recommendation they made for the entire trip. While things started a little rocky (we were crammed into a car from the airport to the hotel (5 people + lots of luggage), everything went...

We only stayed one night waiting between flights but this was the perfect place to spend that night. Less than 20 minutes from Airport - you can arrange for them to send a driver to pick you up from the airport when you arrive which is a wonderful thing after getting off that plane. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful,...

We only stayed for one night at ARH, but would have happily stayed longer had it not been for a connecting flight! It is close to the airport with luxurious private transfer. The highlight was definitely the food - in particular the evening meal which was top quality! The room was comfortable with wonderful bath and shower. The staff couldn't...

We were transferred from arrival at the airport to the African Rock hotel in time for Chef Christine's masterpiece of Eland roast. She even made salsa from scratch for my husband's morning omelet. This little hotel is marvelous. The rooms are large with excellent bathrooms, the swimming pool and outdoor bar area inviting, and the restaurant superb. Upstairs is a...

Staff at the African Rock hotel exceed expectations, and the chef Joyce was wonderful and accomodating, her food is delicious. I loved the room, and the ambience in the hotel. Two things which could be improved, stock the bar fridge for those with jet lag and it was too cold in the dining room.

Thank you for taken the time to review our hotel. I will follow up on the heating of the dining room. Thank you for writing a review and highlighting the service issues especially during our load shedding periods. These are frustrating for our guests as well as staff. The duty manager should have informed you better about our back up power and additional battery operated lighting we supply to the rooms during this period. Normally the power outage is not longer...
