The rooms are furnished in a wonderful old English style with many antiques which we had never seen before in other guesthouses. The stuff is nice und very helpful. We regret that our stay was only planned for two days. Christina gave us very helpful advices to get along in Durban. We urgently recommend to make a similar experience during...

One of the best rooms -- beautiful furniture, comfortable, clean and felt right at home. Could not sing higher praises! The room alone is enough to make you want to come back time and time again, but the staff truly provide an additional personal touch - Christina is warm, inviting and highly efficient, the morning staff always welcome you to...

This is our fifth visit to Abalone Guesthouse, it really suits us in every way. The house is beautifully furnished and very well situated in a leafy part of Durban with interesting restaurants and coffee places close by. The entire experience is excellent, from the wonderful breakfasts to the friendly and most helpful staff, to the spectacular views of Durban....

The very moment you enter the house you feel welcomed as if you were count and countess. Everything is beautifully decorated with best materials, antiques and a touch of luxury which makes your stay an enjoyment. We enjoyed some wonderful days in the first-floor suite with a large balcony/terrace - large enough for 4 comfortable basket-chairs and overlooking the busy...

The accommodation here is very high quality; very tasteful decor, lots of interesting antiques in bedroom suites and public areas, and secure parking. The staff are really friendly and helpful, breakfast was beautifully done, and sitting on the balcony whilst eating was luxury. All suites have a separate lounge, bedroom, spacious bathroom, and a little private balcony. An honesty bar...

I have just spent a night at Abalone Place. The suite I had was beautifully decorated, with real attention to detail and fantastic views over the harbour and as far as the iconic football stadium. The bed was so comfortable that I was sorry to have to get up and go to work, but the delight of having a luxurious...

We stayed at this wonderful guesthouse while we were in Durban during the 2010 World Cup. My review is way overdue but my memories of the experience we had are still quite fresh. My husband and I have fond memories of our trip to South Africa and the hospitality we experienced at the Abalone Guesthouse is one of the highlights...

I am so happy to have found this amazing guest house in Glenwood! The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious, with loads of attention to detail. This is truly a gem and between Sue (owner) and Chloe (manager) they offer the very best in hospitality found in Durban! Sue has even offered to go to the post office for me!...

I have stayed at Abalone Place a few times now. I have been there on a short vacation with friends and then once or twice while in Durban for business. Centrally located in Durban's Glenwood suburb with a very warm and luxurious home away from home feel. Very well priced for what you get. The rooms are spacious and beautifully...

Abalone Place was everything we were looking for and more. It was in lovely quiet location, our room was gorgeous and we had a wonderful balcony with a stunning view out over the city. The building is a lovingly-restored old house and immense care taken with colour schemes and furnishings, but as well as been extremely stylish, it is also...
