The place is awesome as are the owners and the staff. Very hospitable and friendly. Food was incredible although we didn't have the suppers we felt they were out of our money bracket. A few downsides; Only one pre-selected tv channel was given. Couldn't use the spa bath because of water restrictions however the lodge is on a borehole system?... More

Very hospitable and comfortable, with excellent food and very good selection of wine. I was amazed that Trudie, who cooks the food, is vegetarian, as she prepared meat so well. The evening meals were excellent.

Let's start with the good points: If you are in the right room (we were in 6) you have an amazing view. Food is okay (not exceptionally) and the owner are friendly and helpful. BUT, ad other reviewers already mentioned it's very odd that you have to pay for stay the minute you arrive even if you did pay half... More

Dear Mam Thank you for taking the time to write the review. In terms of the deposit please remember you booked for one person and two guests arrived. You cannot expect to pay 25 euros per night per person for luxury accommodation. We are getting approximately 200 guests per month of which 99 % cannot stop complementing us on the... More

We were at Amazian Mountain River Lodge for two nights. It's a great place to stay when you want to travel the Sani Pass and visit Lesotho. The little chalets were wonderful, spacious, well equipped and very clean. There's a great view covering both mountain and river. Both breakfast and dinner were very great, among the best we had in... More

Brent and Trudie create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, even though the place is quite fancy. It's actually a good place to stay, but the prices are quite high for South Africa: we stayed at Hartford House and Tenahad before and after, for less that The Amazian (including food). Our impression was that they cater more for overseas guests.

We went to Amazian for the first part of our honeymoon. The aim was to just relax in the mountains and we truly did. The highlight definitely was the food with the best part of our day being dinner time where Amazian really shines.

Beautiful building in a good setting, the hosts were attentive but... bedrooms were so overstuffed with furniture that it was hard to move in them. The bathroom is narrow, cramped with strange varnished stone edging. Worst feature was the 'prison camp' like time table for meals. Dinner at 7pm, breakfast at 8.30... the dining room door was locked until than!!... More

The room was perfect, the only downside was that it was a bit cramped with all the furniture. But the views from the balcony were amazing, looking down to a trout stream and up and across to stunning verdant countryside. This really was one of the most amazing settings of our whole SA tour. Dinners were wonderfully cooked and well... More

........ BECAUSE YOU NEVER WANT TO LEAVE AGAIN! If there was a 6 star rating, this place and location (on top of a hill with a 270 degrees view of the Drakensberge), the ambiance and hospitality of owner/operators Trudy and Brent Snyman would be rated at 8. The same goes for the outstanding food, personally and freshly prepared by Chef... More
