My brother and I used the guesthouse the night before Sani2C. When arriving, the bathroom lights were dead and the two bedlights were gone. We asked for new lights but the owner could not help. We had to used our camping lights to pack our Sani2C equipment the next morning. No curtains, just a very old side curtain improperly installed....

I'm always vaguely amused when reviewers seem to include their negative impressions of the place they are visiting with the lodgings they are rating. Surely this reflects on their inability to choose suitable vacation destinations, and has no relevance as to the quality of their accommodation? Pile-Inn is a family run B&B in a small town in South Africa which...

We stayed in the Pile-Inn for 2 nights. The city of Underberg is pretty dead, there really is nothing to do other than to visit the Drakensbergen or do the Sani-pass tour. The B&B was the cheapest we stayed at with 600 ZAR incl. breakfast. The owner and his wife are friendly, but not intrusive. You could see that they...

Nice/small B&B, owners overwheming friendly and kind. The rooms are good (with tasteful bathrooms and good view over the town). If you are taller than 1.80m, watch your head, there is an evil ceiling beam right after the stairs, which may put you out of order for the rest of your vacation. In near vicinity (walking distance) excellent restaurant for...

We stayed here during a trip through KZN which took in the Sani Pass. The BnB was homely, good value for money and the owners made us very welcome. Breakfast was great and had the weather been a little better we would have enjoyed it on the verandah overlooking a very pretty garden . We would stay again if in...

The B&B is a suburban house, built in the the 1930s , in a quiet street 5 minutes walk from underbergs village centre. It has secure parking in the garden . The house is wooden and our room was on the first floor up a narrow wooden staircase. It was a small room with hardly enough room to move about...

Within walking distance of the small town of Underberg, the Pile-Inn lies is in a quiet back street set in a well maintained fenced garden. Our ensuite room was light, airy and spacious with delightful touches of Africa everywhere. Willy and Caroline were warmly welcoming but not "in your face". Their breakfast was sumptuous and served on the shady front...

We stayed here as a stop over to Umngazi. The owners were friendly and the rooms pleasant. Negatives were a steep flight of stairs (a worry with the kids) and a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the communal areas. Fine as a stop over but not sure I would stay longer with the kids. Great location for Sani to...

We found this very beautifull little hotel when we arrived in Underberg. New owners were really friendly, treated us as part of their family. Caroline made sure we had everything we needed and her son in law gave us very important information about the treaks to do in the surroundings, specially to go to Sani Pass. The rooms were very...
