Khotso Horse Trails and Accommodation, deep in the Southern Drakensberg, is both a working horse and sheep farm and a perfect base to either explore, adventure or relax. Khotso is famous in the area for its spectacular horse trails, which range from 1-hour rides to 3-day cross-border expeditions into Lesotho. There is the very cosy Backpackers Lodge, a new campsite with kitchen and ablution block in the orchard next to the mountain stream, as well as 3 newly refurbished self-catering rondawels overlooking a private gorge behind. Enjoy the idyllic life that comes with living in the mountains, far away from the hustle and bustle in the towns and cities. Spend precious time with friends and family in your own rondawel or head to the Lodge for the sociable atmosphere to embrace the wonderful characters that travel here from all over the world. With the full 1 000 hectare farm at your disposal, ride over the ridge tops on horseback, hike to one of the mineral water pools, swim or fish the Umzimkulu river, mountain bike the extensive single track routes, or just take time out from your hectic day-to-day routine to relax and unwind by a fire under the stars in the breathtaking scenery of the Southern Drakensberg.

Had the best time at Khotso Lodge! Its a warm and friendly place, I loved the people and all the animals, the food was delicious and the surroundings are stunningly beautiful. You can do all sorts of hikes from the lodge and there's a really nice coffee place with great views at 15 min walking distance !

Friendly welcoming hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home. Clean well maintained campsite and back packers lodge with a warm fireplace with amazing views. Great place to use as a base to explore the area, loads of ramblings and hikes in the area and farm and close to Sani pass and Lesotho. Will definately return!

Went camping at Khotso and the set up was amazing, bathrooms were clean and showers worked great. Found a nice spot next to the river. Evenings are quiet and the vibe of khotso is extremely relaxed. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Will camp here again on my next trip to drakensberg south!

Sensational spot in the Drakensberg foothills staffed by a lovely and professional team who go out of their way to make you welcome and accommodate your activities and interests. I visited alone but immediately felt at home. The lodge itself is peaceful and pretty and surrounded by seemingly endless hills, rivers and swimming holes for exploring. I hiked and did a couple of trail runs and loved every minute. I also did the three-day Lesotho horseback trip, which was a bucket list item, and Khotso met my expectations to the letter. Incredible experience, cannot recommend it enough. Cheers to Kelly, Charles, Steve, Caroline, Angus and everyone at Khotso who make it such a special place.

Great place to unwind and relax. The start of our Holiday couldnt be better. Lulu and Steve are the most friendly people. Great and beautiful nature as well. And you should definitely visit Balam coffeeplace, best coffee next to a small river, close to Kotsho.

Can highly recommend camping at Khotso. So much open space, great hot showers, fire pits and tranquility. Best trout fishing, there are some big ones to land. Our horse ride up to Elands Peak was stunning. Thank you Khotso for your warm hospitality

We had an amazing time camping at Khotso. The location is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. There's a little stream running through the campsite with small pools that you can swim in and bigger ones to walk to. Also really good hot showers and toilets and a communal kitchen area where you can wash up or cook. We will definitely be back again!

Khotso is a lovely place with magnificent views, multiple running/hiking trails on the property itself and also out of the property. The staff is superfriendly. It's a perfect place to rewind and relax, to have some relaxing time in front of the fireplace, on the deck outside with hillviews, views of horses in the paddocks or anywhere else you like. The dorm has comfortable beds, there are comfortable showers and it's quite close to town (17 minutes by car).

This is a gorgeous camp site with ample room for everyone. Easily accommodated our overland truck. Spotless ablutions and good hot water. Good wifi at the lodge. Nice hikes from the lodge and great views of the mountains. Staff were friendly and helpful.
