Mopani was our first experience of a Kruger rest camp and proved to be a good choice. Our request for a specific unit (based on social media recommendations) prior to arrival was noted, although never guaranteed, but happily we did receive our requested unit (43) on check-in. The FF6V cottage sleeps 6 in three twin bedrooms. We entered our unit...

This was our 3rd stay at this camp in the last 2 years. This time we had some issues with bats roosting in the roof of our cottage. The smell of the cottage was like going into a cave with bats in it. Pure and strong guano smell. There were droppings on the bed and both beds were well away...

Loved this rest camp. Chalet with amazing views over the dam - saw plenty hippo, croc, elephant and loads of bird life . The restaurant was good for lunch, the chalet was great, especially the view ! The pool area was ok - very busy when we were there. One of our favourite camps

While game-viewing was not as productive here as it was from the 3 other camps we stayed at further south, we found this to be a wonderful, quiet get-away with superb birding. Since we booked way ahead, we were able to get a cottage with a spectacular view, one of very few in this camp. Our cottage was a bit...

Having been to this rest camp before, we made this our base for five nights. We were allocated a large hut that was more than adequately equipped. Braaing under the stars while listening to the night sounds in the Kruger is very special. The residents' pool is large and well maintained. The reception staff are not overly friendly but this...

An amazing view over the dam which was full of birds and elephants. The restaurant was better than those in the other rest camps we stayed at. Most of all, the camp was much smaller and more peaceful that those we visited in the South of Kruger. We saw rare Roan Antelopes not far from the camp.

We arrived at the Mopani Rest camp for a 2-night stay. The cottage was a large, fairly rambling affair with 3 bedrooms (one en suite) and two bathrooms. Although this is one of the newer camps, it appears to suffer from lack of maintenance; It also lacks the charm and design of the traditional camps. The fire extinguisher was missing...

Spacious rondawels with airconditioner, bath and shower and own small patio with braai area. Stocked with all the basic kitchen utensils. We stayed in no 84 which was right at the end of one the "circles". Very private. If possible try to get a chalet with a dam view. The guest house unit is also a nice option if you...

We enjoyed it. We were only here for 2night, but had a wonderful stay. The houses are amazing. Very spacious, a nice balcony with a view of the bush. The restaurant area is also very nice, beautiful view of the lake. There is a lot of elephants in this area. We were here in summer, so it was very green.

We just returned from a trip to Kruger Park. Our first part of the trip was spent at the Wild Olive Tree Camp, which was fabulous. The second park was at the Mopani Rest Camp. The camp itself is stunning and the bungalows are really lovely. They are clean and in excellent condition. As a guest, you really don't need...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the banks of the Pioneer Dam in the Kruger National Park, lies it's best kept secret. Named after the mopane veld that surrounds the camp, Mopani Rest Camp nestles amongst the Mopani tree covered koppies. A signature feature is the huge gnarled old baobab tree in the heart of the camp. The vegetation inside the camp is left as found in the wild, adding to the unique atmosphere of the camp. ... more   less
