The Outpost lies in the Makuleke Contractual Park, a vast and remote wilderness area bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. The Big 5 Makuleke Contractual Park measures some 26 500 hectares and is well known for its abundant wildlife including less common species not evident in the southern and central regions of the park. Apart from large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will be able to see Nyala, an antelope which is not easily found in the more southern regions of the park, and over 350 recorded bird species. The diverse terrain of the region includes Mopane Woodlands, Fever Tree forests, Acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens.

Our family of 8 spent Christmas at Pafuri in Kruger Park. We stayed at pels post, a private area at the Outpost. We had a private common area with chefs and a private ranger Nick to take us out on safari. We had 4 private ‘cabins’ with luxurious amenities. Our kids range in age

The walk to the honeymoon suite is some distance from the main lodge, but as your review suggests, worth every step – a breath-taking and unequaled view. Thank you for this Tripadvisor post, it is always appreciated when guests take the time to relate their experience on a public forum. Kind regards Mike

Hi, There are a number of camps in fairly close proximity to The Outpost. Punda Maria (2 hours), Shingwedzi (3 hours), Sirhini Bush Camp (2.5 hours), Mopani (4 hours). For these camps you can either enter the KNP at the Phalaborwa or Punda Maria Gate. Look forward to hosting you. Regards Mike

Dear Donna, I wouldn't be concerned about the cold. The weather in that part of the country is always quite a lot hotter in comparison. To ensure maximum comfort, there are hot water bottles placed inside the bed at night. The beds are all fitted with glorious down duvets thus making sure that you are always as snug as a bug. My only suggestion would be to bring warm jackets and beanies for the game drives as those can get a bit chilly.
