The Outpost lies in the Makuleke Contractual Park, a vast and remote wilderness area bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. The Big 5 Makuleke Contractual Park measures some 26 500 hectares and is well known for its abundant wildlife including less common species not evident in the southern and central regions of the park. Apart from large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will be able to see Nyala, an antelope which is not easily found in the more southern regions of the park, and over 350 recorded bird species. The diverse terrain of the region includes Mopane Woodlands, Fever Tree forests, Acacia thickets as well as some of the largest and oldest Baobab specimens.

We stayed 3 nights at the Outpost in the very northern section of Kruger National Park. What a delight. The staff and guides were the best and most personable service people I have met. The rooms are luxurious with open sides and 100% privacy. And the scenery was spectacular.

Joan, I am absolutely delighted that your experience with us in the Northern Kruger was so enjoyable. For someone as well traveled as you, to describe this area as one of the most beautiful parts of the world, is significant and appreciated. Time with Samual Japane is a special experience. His demeanor, charm, and enthusiasm coupled with his knowledge of the bush is unique – he is indeed an asset to The Outpost Lodge. Your review is insightful and so accurately communicates the glory of this area – thank you very much. Thank you too for the personal mention – much appreciated. Kind regards Mike

The outpost is set high above the river valley. Red rocky outcrops break up the green of the trees. The landscape is unlike any other safari landscape I have seen . Do go on a walking safari, see the Limpopo river and hippos and the fever tree forest . There are so many
