Satara has some of the best wildlife in Kruger and the huts are well maintained. They are by no means luxurious but you experience nature in a very intimate way and have enough personal privacy to make this stay special.

Out of the three rest camps we tried in the park, this was the one we liked the best, and where we stayed the most - 3 nights. The little huts are equipped with just about everything you need for a stay like this, it is well taken care of by the staff. We were lucky with great wildlife spotting...

Basic rest stop, basic facilities, no views to talk of. Convenient stop for those travelling through the Kruger. There is a reasonable Mugg and Bean restaurant on site. Only real downside to the property was again the very strong smell of creosote (Timber Preservative)

From tents to lovely bungalows. Very responsible price for what you get. Clean, comfortable beds and full kitchen. Then when you add in the fact that you are in the heart of Kruger National Park this is truly a great value and experience. We did a sunset game drive which was of course very special. Came within feet of two...

We wanted to stay in Lower Sabie, but as it was fully booked settled on Satara. Assuming that viewing animals is top priority, I experienced Satara and surrounds the best place to be. We went as far south as Crocodile Bridge and up North to Letaba, and spotted the most animals close to Satara, including the Big 5, with a...

You cannot beat the location of Satara for some of the best game viewing in the Kruger National Park – We have regularly seen the big cats in this area, and on this 7-day trip a pride of 41 Lion, including two white cubs. The female leopard we found on the S100 was one of the best sightings of Leopard...

On Friday 1 May 2015, my now fiance arranged a private 'special' game drive from Satara. Unbeknown to me, his reasoning was to take me into the Kruger Park that I love so much, to propose to me at sunset. Regardless of the naturally exciting and romantic event unfolding, we were allocated a game ranger called Edward. And Edward by...

Reception desk staff are so rude, walked in a greeted the four ladies, not one acknowledged me. While standing waiting the one receptionist says I must go stand somewhere else and wait for another receptionist who was training a trainee. They don't inform you they doing training and ask for your patience. They seem to think they doing you a...

We enjoyed Satara; there is a Mugg and Bean which we ate a few times for lunch and breakfast. Very good and priced well. The little shop is well stocked so there is no need to take anything into the reserve. Buy what you want there. Our huts had braai/cookout facilities which we used for dinners. Game veiwing in the...

This is one of the most popular camp and difficult to find availability and I understand why. The location is great with loads of roads and off roads to explore. The camp is spacious and kept clean and fresh. The reception area, the shop and restaurant is super nice with a view over the bush, and we could see quite...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
