Marakele was the highlight of our SA holiday -. the tents are very, very nice inside - bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious and shower was good. The area is absolutely beautiful, with a nice view each evening of the sunset and the water. You feel very secluded in the middle of the park, with only a few other people... More

Experience What an incredible experience, we have come away relaxed and rested. The tented camp is situated on a dam, it was a hotbed of activity during the day. As we sat and enjoyed a G&T we were joined by a herd of elephants that came to bath in the muddy waters. We also saw a lot of different buck.... More

Set high in the mountains, the comfortable tented units are built along one side of a dam. There are no fences so the elephants and other animals (this a big 5 park!) come and go at will to drink and browse. There was elephant dung next to our tent which should have been a give away but we were still... More

The 'safari' tents set on a large deck overlooking the water are great, elephants came down to drink and play in the late afternoon which was so amazing to watch from the deck. We stayed in Fish eagle tent which is in the middle of the row of tents and your neighbors are a little close. The monkeys are a... More

Great basic stay in Marakele safari park! The lodges were very nice and the kitchen attached was great!! Staff very nice but basic knowledge and not very handy with credit cards...the park itself is beautiful, not much wildlife but certainly worthwhile...

We booked at Tlopi Tented Camp in the Marakele National Park for 7 nights - stayed for 6 nights. The scenery is beautiful, the Tlopi Camp setting is wonderful, could however have been built on the opposite side of the dam where there are plenty of trees that would give the accommodation some shade. Firstly, the reserve is, in our... More

Because you stay by yourself and buy your own food and cook yourself this is a nice" in between " the fancy lodges that we stayed in. It is quiet, totally private, only animals and scenery, and real africa, The self drives and the safari drives are a good deal, in comparison with a lodge this is super cheap! Gamedrive... More

Having been to numerous sanparks in SA, Tlopi Tented Camp wins my vote. We could have sat all day on our deck and simply enjoyed the numerous different game that came down to drink. The setting is superb. Each tent overlooks the waterhole and in just 3 days we saw over 20 different species coming down to drink not to... More

Recently booked at Tlopi Tented camp for 2 nights as a bush escape. As its only 2 and half hours drive from Pretoria, its a nice weekend away, but it is not advisable to drive on the road between Brits and Thabazimbi in the dark. The road is incredibly narrow and is not in a good condition. There are also... More

This is about as close as you can get to nature while still enjoying your creature comforts. Tlopi Tented Camp has 10 tented chalets situated on one of the dams. Although sparsely furnished, we found our two very comfortable but is suggested you bring your own soap, shampoos, and hair dryer (if that's something you still need in the bush).... More
