Welcome to KU DE TA, a B&B/Guesthouse in the heart of the South African sub tropical lowveld. We have 7 en suite rooms, all with own outside entrances, most with private, outside courtyards, some with additional outside showers and some with large farm style verandas ideally suited to the Lowveld climate. All bedrooms are individually decorated with solid, bold, Indonesian Teak furniture along minimalist lines to add to the feeling of peace, serenity and tranquility. The koi pond meanders all around the house, in and out of the courtyards, reflects a feeling of calm delight. The spacious lounge with its oversized daybeds is ideal for lazy, relaxing afternoons. We serve a full South African breakfast in the dining room, where all the windows and doors can be stacked away to open the entire space to the front garden. Dinner on request, please book a day before. The lush subtropical garden with it’s rolling lawn, majestic Royal palms, large dappled shade trees, orchids, epiphytic ferns, colourful shrubs and rare plant collectors plants is a cool escape. We're in the country town of White River, amongst all the splendours of the lowveld. Blyde River Canyon, Kruger Park, Historical Barberton and Pilgrims Rest. The Crocodile Gorge or en route to Maputo, or one of the many private Game lodges. Interesting craft shopping at Casterbridge, and dining at some of the finest restaurants.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just came back from Ku De Ta where we spent another 4 days. I have stayed in 11 different B&Bs in White River and this one by far is the best one. The setting is beautiful, serene and all rooms face a magnificent garden. Our room with the four poster bed was stunning, spacious, with a full bathroom as well as an outside shower! The room also has a fridge, a kettle, fresh supply of tea and coffee every day as well as a jug of fresh milk in the fridge...and even a hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion! Thank you Johan for your amazing hospitality, your friendliness and your personal attention at all times as well as attention to detail...you always go out of your way to please everyone. Thank you for your scrumptious breakfasts and delicious dinners...10 out of 10!! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Hoping to return to this beautiful part of the country soon!

What a little gem of a place! Beautifully maintained with lovely gardens and Koi ponds. Hennie was the most fabulous host and I felt so well looked after. Central living areas are spacious and well appointed. Each room equipped with amenities such as fridge and kettle - even milk in the fridge! Would highly recommend this B & B. Central location is also very convenient.

What a fantastic venue! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, tastefully decorated and arranged so that privacy is guaranteed. The garden is without doubt the finest I ever seen and is huge, its like being in a forest. The koi pond if you call it a pond is many, many, yards long and winds its way all around and under the B and B. The owners are very professional, efficient and pleasant. Certainly one of the very best that I have stayed at!

I loved our room, the gardens and water features and the Koi pond circling throughout the establishment. It was mid December just before the rush crowds so we had the place to ourselves. Tanya is an exceptional host, nothing was too much for her and she personally attended to making our breakfast. I am African so to me simple is best, with the Bali inspired décor and outside showers in a private courtyard I was completely happy. Most importantly the aircon was brilliant because the Lowveld in December is warm and muggy and coming from the Highveld we're not used to it, so the aircon saved us!! Listening to the frogs croaking into the night and the stillness even though it was a suburban area with the 'town' just streets away, I can't say anything bad about this B&B!! oh and the coffee in the morning made fresh in a Moka ... priceless!! I'll happily go back!

This guesthouse is very basic. No warm water! No hairdryer. Nothing extra. The breakfast however was nice as well as the garden. Centrally located but that is the only positive thing. I wont return or recommend it to anyone. No Dstv only basic channels.

Dear Alisha de Lange Stayed with us on the 13th of Aug 2014, shared a twin room with a colleague. Booked in by the company Solidariteit Helpende Hand. (Solidarity Helping Hand.) We regret that you did not enjoy your stay with us. However, it was your decision not to immediately report your experience to us, as all of your concerns could have been successfully resolved, if only you gave us that opportunity. In order to be more environmentally friendly, the 2 rooms where you and your 2 colleagues stayed are fed by its own solar/electric geyser. Due to its location on the roof, it takes a while before the hot water reaches the rooms. If you notified us of the problem it could have been sorted out so easily. As a precaution I will from now on make sure that all the guests are aware of this. The hairdryer should be in the dressing table drawer, or cupboard, or if all else fails, the bedside table drawers. Regardless of that, it you notified us that you were unable to find it I would have made sure that a replacement hairdryer been brought to your room immediately. We have DSTV in the public lounge, or again, if you asked us we could have changed the channels for you as the signal is in all the rooms too. I am aware that there are lodges where every room has a individual DSTV decoder, but their rates are substantially more expensive than ours. Please ask Solidariteit Helpende Hand (Solidarity Helping Hand) to book you into one of these next time. We are proud of the service we have been providing to our customers as a Bed and Breakfast, not guest house. So as a owner I will endeavor to always make sure that all my guests enjoy their stay with us.

Exceptional service, cleanliness, hospitality. Very comfortable. Not really worth listing services and facilities because the owners of this Establishment will make anything available. We arrived late, requested meals at silly times, were in a big group and were not the easiest guests......and not once were we denied anything. Fabulous.
