Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed in 1 of the Studio apartments-self catering.
The unit was clean and comfortable. The owners have great attention to detail and have chosen good quality linens. The kitchen is fully equipped with every amenity we needed, all excellent quality. From knife sets, non stick pans and bowls to place mats, coasters and cutting boards.

The area is safe and peaceful. We were given a remote control with our keys, allowing us easy access at any time of the day.

Guests must remember that linens and towels are provided, but not hand soap or washing up liquid for the dishes (2 items we had neglected to bring with us) Pack your own as nobody does the washing up for you.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Soloman to anybody planning to visit Kimberley.

I would however recommend a more structured book in process: an invoice and keys could be handed to guests and outstanding monies paid, as well as check out times explained. It would eliminate multiple interruptions having people constantly knocking on the door.

Thank you very much for your review and helpful comments. We apologize that there was no washing up liquid by the sink as this is something we always provide. Also we are sorry to hear your dishes were not washed and cleared away as all our rooms are routinely serviced once a day. We will look into this oversight. Currently we issue a full information email to all guests at the time of booking and have more recently taken to also emailing the invoice to all guests. We recognize that the personal touch of receiving a hard copy of the invoice on arrival, together with a printed information sheet, is something that many guests still like and we have now decided we must also introduce this. We have have had a couple of comments about providing soap in the ensuite and this is something we have now introduced for all rooms. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for recommending us.

We stayed for 2 nights at The Solomon & it was very pleasant. Very neat & tidy & the electric blankets were very inviting on the cold nights. The self catering kitchen had everything we needed. Would stay there again.

The Solomon is situated in a quiet and classy area, full of historic buildings.
We chose a self-catering unit which was spacious and well equipped.
The owners provide a comprehensive information file detailing attractions and restaurants in the area which is a nice touch.

We arrived in Kimberley at The Solomon on the Sunday afternoon to a warm welcome from the owner. The room was well fitted with an all inclusive kitchen and a small table for us to enjoy a home made candle lit dinner. Would recommend The Solomon to anyone passing through or staying in Kimberley.

I was looking forward to come back to the guesthouse but must say my evening was not good. Been winter and Kimberkey is a cold town, was not impress to find the aircon not working. The little wall heaters are to small for the big room. Must say of all the places I travel to this is the first guesthouse that I have to pay for WiFi. Will have to think before coming back to The Solomon Guesthouse.

Sir, first of all we must apologise again that the Aircon kept cutting out during your stay. We subsequently isolated the appliance that caused the aircon to trip and we not long have a problem. Whilst we were sorting the problem we also put a fan heater in the room, but I don't recall if that was the case for your night with us. As you say it can get cold in Kimberley winter nights and we are very aware of the need to keep customers warm and cosy. We are very sorry that the two panel wall heaters and the electric blanket were not sufficient on this occasion. We live on site and are always just a phone call away for any problems. In terms of the wifi, this is a very new amenity that was not present for your previous stay with us. Not only is this fast wifi beamed to us by radio connection, we have included battery back-up to keep all our guests online, even during load-shedding. Currently we give every guest 250mb free on arrival with extra 250mb vouchers at R25 each. It might be that in the future we will build wifi into our overall charge, but at the moment we feel that a free starter pack with heavy users paying for extra is the best way to keep our prices as low as possible. We do hope you will consider using us again, we aim to please all our guests. Best wishes.

"You are able to stay in the house as 6 people however, the third room doesn't have an aircon or it's own shower - so this would only be suitable for a family or very close friends because of required sharing of amenities."
