We stayed here while on a self-fly safari from Johannesburg to Namibia. The staff picked us up from Uppington Airport, helped us select a nice place for dinner, and gave us a very pleasant stay. The grounds are well kept.

The lady (Maria) who assisted me was super friendly and very pleasant. I'd give the room I stayed in a 5,5/10....reasons being: it was a bit too close to the main road so I could clearly hear cars all night. Bathrooms were neat, but quite old fashioned (not in a trendy way either) The tv's placing in the top left...

This guesthouse is located near, but not on, the Gariep River. It has a lovely stoep where you can sit and have a partial view of the river. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating. My colleague was quite happy with his room, but I got a room with only a tiny window - dark...

We stayed in Upington en route to the Richtersveld for a cycle tour. I would rate this guest house between average and above average ... the room was big and clean and the bed comfortable, but it was a little stark and lacking in character. The breakfast was very average. We were given very limited free wifi and I think...

We stayed here one night on our way to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and can highly recommend Bain's House. Our room was large and very comfortable. There is ample secure parking available. The owner and her son were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They really know how to run a business. It is very rare to find accommodation...

Upington is beautifully located on the banks of the Orange River, but has developed over the last years to an utmost ugly outstretch of scattered concrete blocks overlaid by heavy plastic pollution that covers the whole city. The guesthouse itself is located close to the highway. You can see the Orange River in the distance from the terrace. The front...

We stayed at Bain's House after a week in the Kalahari Desert and it was the perfect place to wash off the salt and sand. It's really nicely decorated inside and there's a fantastic water feature in the entrance hall. Our room was really big and the bed was so comfortable - especially after the camp-beds! The bathroom was huge...

This was a stop-over en route, booked at the last minute as our first choice was not available. Our room was a spacious one, with a large bathroom. Clearly a lot of care and attention to detail had been given to furnishing the bedroom. The hostess had showed us around before taking us to our room. As we were a...
