Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This venue is stunning and the hosts had an amazingly personal touch to make our trip very special. We found the facilities very good, and the rooms are airconditioned and well maintained. It is pretty much the last house up at the top of Camps Bay, so it required that you have a rental car to really ensure you get the best out of it. There was a personal letter to us when we arrived, with a fruit basket, wishing us a pleasant stay. The hosts are very attentive, yet totally unobtrusive. It is genuinely self catering, so we typically had a small breakfast at the location, and the rest of the time we ate out. Top benefit here is the view from way up high overlooking Camps Bay - it is very special and I highly recommend it.

We have had the pleasure to visit this wonderful place several times. It has become our "second home" and we simply can't wait to return next year On a scale from 1 - 10 where 10 is the absolutely best, we rate: the place - the hosts - the staff and last but not least, the magic view - 11 :-) Thank you Zonia and Jasper for, once again, making our stay, in you lovely place, such a blast.

We stayed at Bateleurs House as a family during December 2015 and loved it. The views are spectacular, the accommodation excellent and the property located in a quiet and secluded cul de sac. The Ocean View room is well-appointed with everything needed for a comfortable self-catering stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the hostess and we were treated like family. Will definitely go back.

My partner and I flew in from Johannesburg having spent 10 days in the heat of Kruger National. We hired our BMW 320i from George and set course for Bateleur's located on Theresa Ave, Camps Bay. Upon arrival we had to be polite and pay attention to the welcoming gestures of our host, because the view was stellar. I selected Bateleur's on the basis of Google Maps; you will notice it is set farthest back from the coast - in other words, there are NO roads behind it, and none to the side either. The view to the East (mountains) is just as good as the view to the west (although you have to leave the actual apartment, in our case, to get views to the east). You feel like you are perched atop the world, and man...does it look good from up here! We have never taken so many pictures in so short a space of time...especially at sunset, which just raises the wow factor to another level. The site is elevated and you actually feel like you're "in" the mountains. Goodness... Our hosts treated us like we were family, and recommended an excellent restaurant (The Hussar?) that we both agreed was the best dinner of our lives to that point. Everyone was so down to Earth and the place has a real grass-roots, "we actually care about it here" feeling coming from the hosts. The Ocean View room has stunning views, especially from the balcony. There are only two other rooms in the complex; we did not see a single other guest, such was the privacy. Be careful of the awning; it is electrically powered, so don't try to extend it manually like I did the first time. Also, be sure to retract the awning when you go out; the winds do pick up somewhat up there (we had some torrential November downpours during our trip to Cape Town). The bed is probably the most comfortable I've slept on, period. The bathroom is beautifully appointed; bordering on palatial. Laundry service was prompt and executed to perfection. To say nothing of the cleanliness, which was exemplary. If you care enough to use your computer while in this nest of beauty then yes, wi-fi is complimentary. Drawbacks are tiny, niggling even. One, the fridge was on the small side. Big deal. The other drawback involved a slightly drawn-out booking process that had its share of hiccups, but truth be told, that's part and parcel with a boutique establishment such as this. Thank you so much for having us - we will be back! - and to everyone (particularly couples) considering Bateleur's: don't waste your time with commercial operations near the beachside. This is a three minute drive, and the view will leave you transfixed. I honestly did not think God's pallette was so rich (I'm colour blind), now I know. Call me closed-minded; I won't stay anywhere else when in Camps Bay, EVER. Thank you, thank you, and THANK you.

We had been here in November 2014 for three nights and we're really pleased with supernice and friendly hosts, a great view and a pleasant room! Just some minutes to walk down to the "city centre" if camps bay. Needless to say they have a locked car parking. Definitively we'll come back next time we are around!

We were privileged to stay with Jasper and Zonia at Bateleurs above Camps Bay. It was a very personal experience with our hosts making us feel as if we were old friends. The room was superb and an excellent breakfast was served by very pleasant staff. The views from the many decks at the house of Camps Bay, Table mountain and the Apostles were fantastic, and the house is very conveniently located for local touring. We would highly recommend a visit.

I have just returned home from the most memorable, spiritual, energizing and fun stay at Bateleur in Cape Town, Camps Bay. Everything about this place was spectacular from the breathtaking views to having the most caring and sincere hosts. I stayed in the Lavender room which was beautifully decorated with some small yet important personal touches. My views were the mountains and the forest so I did not draw the curtains close as I simply could not miss the beautiful nature that surrounded me. The views from the decks and the outdoor were out of a movie scene and I am therefore unable to put down in words the experience of the sunsets and sunrises I witnessed. In the mornings I was not only welcomed by my lovely hosts Zonia and Trix but also an immaculately set breakfast table set outside on one of the decks with more amazing views of the Lion Head Mountain and the ocean. The breakfast table had a different colour theme every day and my bowl of fruit salad beautifully served. I truly felt my stay at Bateleur was heavenly – surrounded by nature, good food and more importantly wonderful hosts. I will certainly return to Bateleur because I didn’t have enough. Thank you Zonia and Trix for making my stay extra-special.

My wife and I recently stayed at Bateleurs for our honeymoon, and the B&B was the perfect combination of comfort, beauty, and relaxation. Franzonia and her husband, Jasper, were wonderful hosts, and went the extra steps to make our stay memorable. We stayed in both the Ocean View and African Rooms, and both were spacious, clean, comfortable and without any issues. We spent plenty of time relaxing on the decks of these rooms as the views and sunsets were simply spectacular. In fact, we enjoyed our 'sundowners' sitting on the deck of our room much more than in the restaurants along the beaches in Camps Bay. The staff were friendly, kind and helpful....with the perfect balance of being there when you needed them, but not being intrusive or rude. And their two (very well behaved) little dogs were the perfect addition for any dog lover. The B&B is located up on the hill (away from the downtown of Camps Bay), right at the border of Table Mountain National Park, providing a quiet, peaceful, serene environment. I would definitely recommend having a rental car to make life easier during your stay here in in Cape Town. Overall, a wonderful 'home base' for our honeymoon, and hopefully we get to spend many wedding anniversaries together again at Bateleurs B&B. Highly recommended to all!

My husband and I stayed here in the spring for our honeymoon and had the BEST time! The views were breathtaking, and the owners went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Fresh flowers, a personalized letter, and beverages of our choice (set up prior) were waiting when we got there. The owner is an amazing chef, by the way, and extremely nice and hospitable. Hands down the BEST omelet I've ever had, which came after fresh fruit and yogurt. Camps Bay is a cute little town a short drive from Cape Town - away from the hustle and bustle. We highly recommend Bateleurs! Thanks for a great experience!
