Had a very comfortable 5 nights in this lovely hotel. Good sized room with excellent shower. Breakfast was a generous spread with eggs done fresh to order a particular treat. Pool area is sufficient and a sun trap. The gym is small but with enough equipment to workout. Both restaurant and bar offer a good choice and value for money. Plenty of lounge space to relax outside of room and option to sit/eat outside. Staff are friendly, efficient and always happy to help. The location is brilliant, just a couple of minutes walk from V&A Waterfront, near aquarium and hop on and off sightseeing bus. Would stay again.

I think the female solo traveller is still a mystery to some hotels AND other travellers. I think people accept male travellers as a norm more readily. I have felt some sort of 'suspicion' (?) is it just me?... anyway The Commodore. As with a lot of hotels around the globe the foyers and restaurants can be so much more comfortable or nicer than the actual rooms. The Commodore has a fabulous breakfast! The rooms have incredibly noisy air con! Big lurching boxes at the window but you can turn them off and open the window which is what I did! But even when you do that the air con of other rooms roars through the night. They also have a stupid entertainment system. So archaic! And very old movies on the two movie channels. And they add a "tourist tax" when you are finalising your bill which I thought was a rort!

*Booked via Trailfinders* This was the first stop of our honeymoon adventures in South Africa. Staff all very friendly. The lobby, bar and courtyard all spacious and full of character. The room was a little underwhelming, not a lot of space and could maybe do with a bit of modernisation. Aircon unit is a little noisy and the balcony doesn’t have any seating. However the location is perfect, just a small walk to the buzz of Cape Town.

The hotel was lovely, great location so close to the V&A waterfront . The staff were really friendly and the food was very good. Great few days spent here. The facilities were very good and it had a lively courtyard garden area to relax and have a drink. Pool area was a little small but beds were very comfortable.

We have just returned home after spending 10 nights staying at the Commodore Hotel. From the minute we arrived until we left we had an amazing time. We had booked room only so can't comment on the food. Prior to going I had emailed to ask for a room with a view of Table Mountain as we were going for a special occasion. Gadija responded and said she'd try her best for us. I had also asked if they provided airport pick up, which they did and Gadija also organised this for us. She had arranged for Muneeb to email me with details, great service as Muneeb was waiting for us at arrivals, lovely man. When we got to the Hotel Gadija greeted us with a big warm welcome, she was absolutely lovely. We did get a room with a great view of Table Mountain and part of the V&A. The room was lovely, tea and coffee making facilities, which was great being able to make a cuppa 1st thing. Our room was cleaned every day. As it was a very busy holiday exploring Cape Town and surrounding areas we didn't use spa area but managed a couple of hours at the pool, loungers were very comfortable, towels provided. We thought the Hotel was really nice and all the staff were very nice and helpful. Sashia at reception also helped us out one day by phoning and arranging transport for us to and from Kirstinbosch. The location is Perfect, less than 5 minutes walk to the V & A. Perfect 10 days stay for us. Would have no hesitation staying again and would recommend to friends and family. Thanks Gadija From C & K Glasgow, Scotland 🥰👌

We stayed at this hotel for three nights before touring the wine lands & garden route. The hotel was far nicer than their website photographs suggested, and the accommodation, breakfasts, staff were lovely. However I only gave a score of 3/5 for two reasons: 1. The welcome we received from the member of staff who checked us in was very poor. She seemed totally disinterested, didn’t provide us with any information about the hotel, and forgot to take card details which prevented us charging anything to our room. 2. The room air con…. the options were to either fry in our bed, or turn on the air con which sounded like a jumbo jet coming in to land. Either way we did not have a good nights sleep. On the plus side we did have the most wonderful view of table mountain and the harbour from our room on the 6th floor.

As I compose this review, I’m lounging by the hotel pool; folk are quiet, reading, relaxing and enjoying the warm sun and the sound of the nearby waterfall. If you need what I’ve described, book to stay here. We’ve been here twice now, 6 nights in total. The service is exemplary. The food, excellent. Cleanliness of the room, impressive. Service from Guest relations lady, Giji, above and beyond expectations. Reception staff, most helpful. Concierge very good taking care of luggage and security. I can’t recommend this hotel more highly. It’s in a great position near to the V&A waterfront where we felt very safe. There were numerous security men patrolling and they were very visible and engaged. An ideal hotel for visiting Stellenbosch, Constantia and of course, Robben Island; all of which are not to be missed. We are already planning a return trip.

Stayed here for one night only prior to joining our cruise ship. Decent, if old fashioned hotel, decor based on a seafaring theme, but well situated for the Cruise Port, & only a short walk to the V & A Waterfront & all its attractions. Good service from friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet in the Clipper Restaurant, as well as an ok meal the night we arrived. Comfortable lounge attached to the Admiralty Bar, nice outside dining area in a pleasant courtyard, with a small pool area attached. large comfortable standard bedroom, though lighting was poor. Never made use of any facilities, as only a short overnight stay & probably would want something with more about it, if staying in Capetown for any length of time. Recommended as a pre-cruise hotel

We had a four night stay at the Commodore with friends in January and would definitely recommend it as a safe and well located base in Cape Town. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent - breakfast had a good choice including freshly cooked omelets etc and we also ate there one night, which was very good too. The pool area is a pleasant and quiet spot and you could always find a lounger. No issues with the room - it was large and comfortable. Safety is, sadly, a concern in some parts of Cape Town, but there were absolutely no problems here - it was literally a 2 minute walk onto the V&A waterfront and we never felt uncomfortable or unsafe

As others have said- great location to visit capetown. Breakfast very good and a fantastic choice Rooms a bit dated- and why have a balcony then no table and chairs to sit on it ? Biggest gripe is the old noisy air conditioning unit in the room - choose to sleep in a sauna or bring earplugs

Dear Mr. Riffman, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review & thank you for the wonderful comments. We appreciate your feedback regarding the noisy air conditioners, and I will definitely look into the concern. Chairs are on request for the balcony, as this is just a step out balcony.
