We stayed here last week for 4 days after travelling the garden route to Port Elizabeth and flying back to Cape Town. When we arrived our rooms were not ready as we were early but was made very welcome and invited to sit on the terrace and offered drinks. We were shown to our rooms after being given a tour...

After some 20 hours on flights from Australia, you hope that the hotel you are going to stagger into will be warm and welcoming and lovely. This hotel is all those things and more. Great standard of accommodation, food was fresh and tasty, location handy but more than all those things....it's the standard of service that makes the Derwent special....

Better than all the rest! We spent our first 3 Nights of our honeymoon in Derwent House and it was the best decision ever. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, a banner and balloons and thousands of small paper love hearts on the bed. An amazing touch. The room was spotless and full of books and...

This is the second time we have stayed at Derwent House Boutique Hotel. Having stayed at many nice hotels in various parts of the world, my wife and I have become rather picky. Among the (small) hotels that we have stayed in, Derwent House is definitely one of our favorites. What's so special about Derwant House? The best answer I...

Indeed, Luca's welcoming smile is becoming legendary! But we are so pleased to learn that you appreciated the ambience and art at Derwent House as well: we want to reflect Cape Town's well-deserved global reputation as a design hub while embracing African colour, style and joie de vivre. And as you know, we love to share our latest gastronomic experiences...

Staff were absolutely superb. Breakfast great. Nice pool and communal lounge. Only criticism is the cheaper rooms were too small so we moved to a larger room with a balcony at the front which was great. We stayed 5 nights. Walking distance to bars and restaurants.

Perfect place for a relaxed and stress free 3 days. Brilliant location close to Table Mountain and a multitude of excellent eating joints but the really outstanding feature here is the quality of staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Like being in your own house. We'll be back. Chris and Fiona

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In a city renowned for hospitality, Derwent House stands out as one of Cape Town's leading boutique guesthouses. Located in the heart of the vibrant Tamboerskloof/Gardens neighbourhood, this small hotel combines historic charm, contemporary Afro-chic style and all mod-cons for a uniquely Capetonian blend of ambience, warmth, and comfort. Our wonderful team completes the picture -- we go the extra mile for you and our guests leave as friends. We love colour and celebrate African design - you'll find it everywhere. But when it comes to the basics - like breakfast, bedding, showers, climate control, Wi-fi or news from home - we don't compromise so you don't have to. At Derwent House, you're steps away from the hustle and buzz of Kloof Street, with its collection of superb restaurants, bars and trendy boutiques--and just a few further to the nightlife hub of Bree and Long Streets. Yet just a short car journey from the Table Mountain cable car, the beaches of Clifton or Camp's Bay, and the V&A Waterfront. There's nowhere more central -- but come and see for yourself. We're waiting for you! ... more   less
