We stayed in a deluxe room for one night as part of our honeymoon. We found the Whales Tale a bit eerie as we were the only guests in the building. Also, it is located quite a bit from central Hermanus. This was not a problem for ourselves as we had a hire car and there is secure parking here.... More

This is a lovely guest house and I am surprised at those who have been critical.Yes, it is a little out of Hermanus but it is unlikely people would be here without a car.I found the people friendly and helpful. It is a good idea to book restaurants for you and it was no problem if you wanted them to... More

We arrived later than planned and were met by Theresa the owner. she fussed over us and the children and was obviously (and quite rightly) very proud of her business and of Hermanus. Theresa had booked us a table in a local Italian restaurant and taxi transfers for us. Aslo, she had reserved us places on a whale watching boat... More

Although a few miles from Hermanus the properlty was stylish and really well furnished. We were given a tour of the house by Oscar upon arrival and promptly saw whales bobbing up and down in the sea from the pool view! We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Lovely breakfasts and very polite staff. We also went... More

A georgeous guest house with amazing rooms, a little off the beaten track, you can walk in to the town centre, but not lots of streetlights, we had a car, so it was great. On arrival they had provisionally booked us on the whale watching trip, which we could cancel if we wanted but at least we knew we had... More

We arrived in Hermanus coming from Cape Town. We were quite disappointed by the location of the hotel as we had no car and it was an hour and a half walk from the town of Hermanus. The hotel itself was clean but quite sterile and cold. We were also taken aback by the fact that restaurants and excursions had... More

The owner of the whales tale is incredibly unfriendly. She was sarcastic, patronising and rude and for tis reason I would avoid this guesthouse like the plague

We stayed just one night so we didn't have enough time to really appreciate it! Our room was lovely and although originally sold as 'Sea View' it was later reclassified to 'Superior' which was more apt as the property was set back a good few roads from the sea and therefore the sea was only just visible! The housekeeper had... More

LIke most people we stayed at Hermanus whilst driving from Cape Town. THe hotel/guest house was gorgeous!! Although I would recommend you have a car as this is a short drive from the town part, just one straight road to the town so is very easy to find, Is only a short walk down the road to the beach where... Like most visitors to Hermanus, we were en route from Cape Town to safari. Hermanus was our second stay along the route. Whale Festival was on whilst we were there, which we thought would be good, but it just meant that the town was full of fast food stalls and there were some live bands on at the beach. It... More
