It was a lovely way to finish a ride from Cape Town, next to the beautiful cloud-covered mountains of the Western Cape. Although my stay was just two days, I enjoyed every moment. I think you are positioned perfectly, just a chip and a putt to the waterfront and the activities. Two days were insufficient! Everything was perfect. When we arrived we received a friendly welcome from Colleen and Cecil. The rooms are Large with a beautiful view over the Lagoon (some rooms even have a view of the heads!). Great amenities including a Nespresso machine! Colleen was available to give suggestions about the surrounding area and knows the current specials in the area (gave us a great tip for half price sushi at a nearby restaurant the night we were there). A Hot Breakfast was served in a homely dining room, but it was possible to request breakfast on your room balcony if preferred!

The location is great and view is stunning. Very clean rooms and lovely host. Pool area is cozy and the overall experience is that you feel immediately at home. We originally planned for one night and booked another one since there is so much to do around there.

Cecil and Colleen give a lovely warm family welcome every time. We've been going since 2015 and only missed one year - only because of a different itinerary. Lovely view of the lagoon, spacious comfy room with all good and necessary amenities and terrace (where breakfast is served a/c weather). Both are very friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go and will help with bookings and taxis. I admire their aim to be as 'green' as possible. Now we're practically 'family' we feel privileged to spend special social time with them - usually involves a bottle!. Hope to be back next year - and find life post-CV at Hideaway to be even more special (if that's possible!)

Hi Jacky and John What a nice surprise to receive your review as we sit in the study working during a third week of a five week lock down. Your communication has certainly brightened the day! We are truly blessed to have such a lovely place (Hide Away) to call home with amazing views of the Knysna Estuary, where there is not a boat in site, great weather (currently), lots of wood for the braai and oh don't forget the wine! Although alcohol cannot be purchased during the lock down, Cecil was not a Planning Manager, for nothing and stocked up sufficiently even with the extension! The COVID-19 pandemic is seriously going to affect tourism to South Africa and we have experienced a number of cancellations of reservations going forward for the next few months so no income! The domestic market will in all probability be the first to recover and may well give South Africans the perfect opportunity to explore their own country! We have been saying this for years! We hope that you and John are both keeping well, practicing your social distancing and all the other things you have to think about before venturing out to buy a loaf of bread!
