Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed one night as part of a tour. Nothing special from the outside, but when the gate opens and reveals the courtyard and secret little garden, it becomes quite charming. Basic but cosy room (I stayed in a family ensuite), great food - options for dinner include ostrich kebabs on the braai and is very reasonably priced. Good bar, lovely seating areas around the garden and fire. Pool on the small side, but overall great value for money. Felt very welcomed by all the staff and got to enjoy a beautiful sunset from the terrace.

We camped here for one night. The staff is very friendly and very helpful, they know everything about the surroundings. The kitchen and facilities are clean and elaborate. They are very well organized. Breakfast was also nice. The only 'downside' is that there is only one common braai, so you'll have to share a bit ;).

This is the 3rd time I’ve stayed here, each time has been different. The first time I was 18 and spent most the night drinking and chatting round the fire place. I also did their trip with the holes from the top of the mountain back to the backpackers which was great! Then when I was on my Honeymoon we stayed in a nice double room with their cat, the staff were friendly and helpful then too. Last week we stayed in a double room upstairs; again the man on reception was helpful, chatty and friendly and gave us lots of discount vouchers for all the trips we’d planned in Oudshoorn. The breakfast was great too! Only thing that slightly let it down this time is the floorboards upstairs we’re extremely squeaky and as we returned from our evening excursion at 11pm and left for our next one the following morning at 5am I don’t think the people below us would’ve slept too well!! Would definitely recommend staying there though!

William was more than accommodating with all my requests. He sorted out transport to the Meerkat experience for me, helped me with my shuttle lift to George when I needed to be there a bit earlier than their usual run. And generally was very friendly and helpful with everything. The big roaring log fire was a real treat to sit by in the evenings, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything that's needed for a bit of self catering. The location is great, only a few minutes walk to other bars, restaurants and shops. Altogether an easy place to stay.

Last week we visited the Backpackers Paradise Hotel during our safari in Oudtshoorn. We were welcomed by the two brothers who were so nice. When they showed us the hotel we were pleasantly surprised by how clean and organized everything looked. At night the dinner was cooked outside at the fire pit where we had a beer and sat around and listened to music. Later that night even the locals of Oudtshoorn came to visit the pub that was located in the Hotel. We had such a great time and we hated that we had to leave after only one night.

The stay at Backpackers Paradise & Joyrides was fantastic, it is a fabulous place, and I must say I had my thoughts about the place at first, but when i got there I feel at home, the per-arrangements are really good, I felt like i was the only customer, your question get answered with a quick response, no delay, even though I stay one night I would definitely go there again, and I recommend the Backpackers to anyone who need a place to overnight.

Friendly informative staff, lots of room options, clean, great outdoor space. Self catering for those that want it, or you can order breakfast or dinner from them...or walk a short distance to several restaurants. Try the Ostrich kebobs!
