And Jann is ZVML. A very special place to stay. Jann = host, cook and telling stories. The northern part of the Swartbergpass was sensational. The bokjes and zebras to look at during diner.

Stayed at Zwartberg for 2 night during March 2012 ,with 2 friends and we had a whale of a time. Jann cooks some brilliant meals and his table settings are worth the visit on their own. Great company (and dont forget his trusty friend (who like its tummy tickled) ,but not intrusive ,really comfortable lodges and beautiful countryside. The wildlife...

What a fabulous experience we had here! If you want to really get away from it all, have the most wondrous views and see the most starry sky this is the place for you! Although Jann makes you feel welcome he is not intrusive. He cooks up a storm in the 'kitchen' and made some of the best food we...

After considerable research about places to visit during a 2-week trip of the Western Cape, we settled on ZVML. From the outset, through our correspondence with Jann and receiving the newsletters, we knew this place would be special and unique. And it was! The accommodation is clean and comfortable and allows you to feel you've escaped anything ordinary. The food...

We experienced a wonderful couple of days, great food, amazing landscape, a totally relaxing atmosphere, made even more pleasant by the owner, Jann! The drive was worth having this kind of experience and thanks to Jann for recommending taking a day to travel across the Zwartberg pass, a fantastic and unbelievable part of South Africa! We were entertained by stories,...

DO NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE LOCALLY. Once we got over the shock of the rough road (perhaps road is too generous a word!) we had a wonderful time. OK the room is not the biggest you will stay in but it is very comfortable with sunloungers on the verandah. So peaceful with good views. Dinners were first rate in a...

The four nights that we stayed at Zwartberg View were one of the highlights of our South African Trip. The Lodge is in a superb location - off of the beaten track and stunningly quiet and peaceful, but still only a short drive from both Oudtshoorn and De Rust - and each of the three guest chalets have beautiful mountain...

What an absolutely wonderful review !! I should just say that the retirement of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes definitely remains a worry, but certainly not as great a worry as what might happen if most of Chelsea, some of Liverpool and a few at Arsenal do NOT retire !! I am also hopeful that the reference to Basil Fawlty...

After two weeks of busy, activity-filled days in Capetown and Franschhoek, Zwartberg View Mountain Lodge was the first place where we just wanted to stay put...where the accommodation itself felt like an experience. The owner Jann - who acts as the lodge manager, the chef, the entertainer, the wildlife expert, etc. - has built this place from the ground up...

We were a bit concerned that this was off the beaten track for us but it was the highlight of our SA holiday. It was a wonderful, peaceful experience and one would highly recommend to everyone. The lodges a a little haven to come back to after visiting the local attractions of Cango Caves, Ostrich Farm, and the beauty of...
