We are a party of ten who set out into the countryside each year. Four from England, two from Wales, two from Denmark and two from George. This year's two night stop at Red Stone Hills was as good as Anywhere we've been. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating . We had booked Bushmans, Birds nest and...

This is the place to go when you really want to rest. Petro gave us a warm welcome and interesting insights on the farm´s history. We stayed at the Aloe cottage and had a most wonderful time. I got up early to catch the marvellous moment of the first shafts of sunlight on the magnificent red rocks behind the cottage....

Just back from a wonderful, relaxing 5-day break at Red Stone Hills. What a treat!!! Petro and Hermanus were the most wonderful hosts and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The setting was scenically quite magnificent and our cottage was very comfortable and more than adequately equipped even down to lovely bath products. We particularly enjoyed the braai we...

I was on the last leg of my holiday in South Africa, flying from Johannesburg to George. I chose Kulula Airlines as I always enjoyed the Banter from the crew. In the past you would get an announcement (The toilets are fitted with CTTV and is used as part of the In Flight enterainment ) and other comments . There was...

We've been there many times. The cottages are old, but newest standard. The surrounding is stunning. The best is always the braii, which is perfectly prepared and delivered. We can recommend it very much.

In summer the guests enjoy the spectacular views from their cottages while having a barbecue [braai]. We maintained the original character of the cottages, circa 1880!

This stay was a private recommendation and I´ve never heard about Red Stone Hills before. We found all what was suggested. A perfect Cottage, silence, a clear and awesome sky full of stars and the best braai meal I´ve ever got. I´ve booked the Enon cottage, but stayed in the Bushman. "It´s a much better view", Petro said. Thank you...

We stayed with 5 belgium people for 2 nights in one of the cottages (red stone cottage). When we arrived we were really taken by the fantastic nature around the cottage. The cottage was very comfortable , the rooms spacious, the wifi very good, the terras practical. The night was quiet and magical. We ordered food and we got a...

It is rare to meet someone who loves their job as much as Petro does. The result is special farm hospitality for nature-loving people. Each unit is equipped with a file of information containing contributions by visiting botanists/geologists/ornithologists/entomologists and amateur enthusiasts. These are people who clearly see the value of this beautiful area. The surrounding mountains, scenery, plants and animal...

I appreciate when guests share their knowledge on nature with us. I learn so much about our own surroundings from these experts and can share this again with our guests. I have all these information in a file in each cottage. I love my job!

We stayed at Petro's place 2 nights in January. Bushman Cottage was perfect - a long verandah for eating and drinking under the stars, and for great views of the Red Stone Hills. Sunset and sunrise are quite stunning here. Nothing was too much trouble for Petro - breakfasts, barbecue packs, driving us to the start of a lovely 90...

I cannot praise this gem in the Karoo enough. This is the 5th time we have stayed there. You need at least 4 -5 days to truly benefit from surroundings My sister is in a wheelchair and it is difficult to get suitable accommodation. Petro went out of her way to make Bird's Nest as comfortable as possible (including helping...
