We had a truly relaxing time at Rietfontein Oatrich Palace - Elmaré & Kobus are great hosts, welcoming & attentive. The rooms are delightful, food at breakfast & dinner was excellent (don't bother driving 30klm to town for dinner). When we asked for some wine & beer to enjoy on our terrace, Elmaré put it in an ice filled wine...

Off the beaten track and away from the much traveled 'Garden Route' is the wonderful Ostrich-filled area in which the ROP is located. With vast views over rolling hills and mountains, a cacophony of greens and browns show off their colours in the changing sunlight. The place itself is intimate and classy. We were the only guests on our honeymoon...

The Rietfontein Ostrich Palace provides a terrific combination of historic charm, excellent service, and absolutely beautiful scenery. The location is slightly off the beaten path, yet close to the Oudtshoorn attractions. The restored rooms at Rietfontein are wonderfully decorated, very spacious and quite comfortable. The gardens, pool and fantastic mountain views are so relaxing. Best part of the stay was...

Along the R62 apron 32km form Oudtshoorn this is an ideal spot if you like a quiet place to stay for a few nights. The rooms are comfortable and at your choice close to the pool and restaurant or a little more outback. The Potgieter family gives you a warm welcome and make sure your stay will be a happy...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ostrich Palace. The place is very charming and peaceful with its lovely old farmhouses. The rooms were elegantly and traditionally furnished, complete with decanter of local port - a lovely touch. They also have a simply stunning infinity pool with incredible views out over the Karoo and the mountain ranges beyond. The only...

Elmare suggested the newly refurbished room which was magnificent. My only comment would be that perhaps the washbasins could be lowered into the drawers of the dresser as they are currently quite high (we are both quite short!) and close to the taps. The food was both beautifully presented and delicious. We loved the pool area.

My brief overnight stay at this beautiful property was all too short. The staff were very friendly, the accommodation comfortable and spacious, and the food served at the on-site restaurant delicious: fresh watermelon and feta slices as palate cleanser; garden salad with pecan nuts, kiwi and a spicy vinaigrette as starter; ostrich fillet (perfectly prepared) with blanched seasonal vegetables and...

We spent one night in Emmas cottage and liked it very much. It is decorated in an old fashioned way and with love for the little details. The food was very good and the staff very attentive. The location is quiet and invites you to relaxe, especially at the large pool with a view over the surrounding nature. Absolutely recommendable.

We were very lucky to get a room in this wonderful old farm that resonates with the history of bygone ostrich barons. Our cottage was very cosy and beautifully decorated. Our dinner was absolutely delicious with both beef and ostrich choices. Nothing too fancy but very tasty - as was breakfast the next day. We really loved our brief sojourn...

What a lovely place to send a night. Me and my wife were on holiday in South Africa for Christmas. We were driving down to Sedgefield from PE and decided to go through the Karoo rather than the costal road. We found the Ostrich Palace on booking.com and chose to spend a night there so we could visit the wineries...
