It was lovely. The host was really friendly and sent us a message on whatsapp that morning so we could find the place easily (it's down a quiet residential street). everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. some cold items and then also offering omlettes etc too. Just what we needed in the morning.
Good secure free parking is available and there is free wifi as well as a good selection of TV channels. We were given an excellent dinner recommendation at a local restaurant too.
Our only complaint was the lack of curtains over some windows in teh suites. This meant that we were awake not long after 5am as the room was light. It's a shame that this hasn't been thought through as the rest of the hotel is great.

We spent 1 day/night at Karoo Retreat in Oudtshoorn. It was sweltering hot and Karoo Retreat offered a cool sanctuary; with a lovely dip pool and an airconditioned room. The sofa beds were super comfy according to our kids, and the mezzanine main bedroom was very comfortable. The unit was spotlessly clean and the bathroom had a large shower and offered basic toiletries. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed for a quick stay. Great location too!
The hosts were helpful and very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our quick stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Karoo Retreat was an absolute surprise for us. We did not expect all the bells and whistles received from this fabulous owner. Because of the lockdown, the owner pre-warned us that no restaurants were opened and we were served the most amazing lamb potjie the evening we arrived, at such a small fee... the accommodation was clean, neat and really comfortable and warm. All the amenities are well thought out and we just loved our 2 night stay!

From our first communication with Monnique, she was extremely professional, but warm and welcoming. Check-in was seamless and the suite we stayed in was beautiful, squeaky clean and well-appointed with high quality bedlinen and some beautiful decorative touches. It was lovely sitting on our stoep, overlooking the lap pool and veg garden and hard to believe that we were close to the centre of town. Ample, safe parking added to the enjoyment of the experience.

This apartment really an awesome, refreshing experience. Dominique provided exceptional service and was very patient after we kept changing our arrival time. The apartment has a super convenient back entrance making it easy and private to unload your luggage. The reception area and apartments were squeaky clean and super modern. Dominique was very friendly yet professional and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. After the pool has been installed, I'm pretty sure this will be the best guest house in oudtshoorn. Breakfast was very yummy and professionally presented in our apartments (eating area rightfully closed due to covid). They also made provisions for us being vegetarian and delivered a very yummy breakfast. Super chuffed with this place. Best accommodation we've stayed at and great value for money.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Karoo Retreat. Our room was pre-heated for the cold night and the room was of a very high standard.
On top of getting a discount for a late reservation, we were also upgraded on the night - sounds like a double discount.

Antoinette was an absolute star. She and the staff handled all the queries we had like professionals to make our stay pleasurable! The breakfast every morning was brilliant and again Awie and Antoinette accommodated our food intolerance like professionals, leaving us very happy and satisfied. Awesome place, would recommend it to everyone!

We've arrived 25 minutes earlier than clock in time (14h00), the receptionist asked us to come back at 14h00 as they are still busy with the room and did not let us in on the property.
As it was only 25 minutes we've waited in the car under a tree down the street.
What really made me upset was that when I saw the facilities they had where we could have waited for 25 minutes. There were chairs at the pool area and table & chairs at the reception area where we could have bought a cooldrink and use the restroom.
Could she not have offered for us to wait at any of the above-mentioned areas, is that really too much to ask for?! If it was 2.5 hours too early, I would have understand, but 25 minutes!
I was looking forward to a massage at the spa but decided to take my money somewhere else. We also enjoyed breakfast somewhere else.
We felt unwelcome and was glad to leave the next morning.

We stayed in Oudtshoorn on a blistering day but the Karoo Retreat lofted room was ideal to stay cool in. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and cooked a delicious breakfast. Very affordable and comfortable if you’re passing through Oudtshoorn!

This modern, serene gem is indeed an oasis in the Klein Karoo. The gorgeous interiors are tranquil, minimalistic and modern. Rina gave us outstanding service: sent us relevant info upfront, welcomed us warmly, made dinner recommendations and arranged massages for us before breakfast. We loved our charming hotel room. The quality linen, mattress and towels ensured a blissed and blessed in-room experience. The venue is licensed and sells a variety of wine at very good prices. The breakfast menu offers various options at affordable prices. We savoured the flavoursome, tasty dishes. Our massages executed, by the owner Esté, were outstanding - most likely the best massage I have ever experienced. I was reluctant to leave. Ideal for a memorable stay combined with professional service.
