I had just stayed the weekend at a Protea hotel (Mowbray) and have had no complaints which is why I was shocked and surprised when I got to the Tyger Valley hotel. Despite having a "no smoking" room, it smells stuffy and smokey inside. Multiple large stains on the carpets make it look like someone covered up a crime inside......

Dear BrutalDev Thank you for taking the time yesterday to speak to me telephonically about your very unpleasant stay with us. I would like to once again apologise profusely for the numerous oversights from our side that led to you staying in a substandard room. We will be refurbishing the last 24 rooms in the hotel from July onwards. The...

Cannot fault the Hotel, the Staff really know how to make a stay seem so effortless. Sorted out any issues fast, always happy to help. Food and drink good, costs are not a worry even when you have to pay for the Breakfast on top of the room rate.

This hotel has a beautiful view of the Table Mountain and a nice restaurant. The rooms are comfortable but I think it's difficult to carry the luggage on the stairs. Be careful with the rooms next to the road it's really noisy. The staff is excellent and attentive.

We needed to find accommodation urgently to stay close to family over Christmas. From the word get-go we didn't experience that typical Protea Hotels-welcoming feeling we've gotten used to, starting with a young receptionist with an 'I-am-more-important-than-you" attitude. The first room we were given stank of cigarette smoke (despite the no smoking-sign and status). The pillows in the second room...

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel. We only wanted the room, to give us an option of eating out. We did have a buffet breakfast the one morning, which was really a great selection. The views from the hotel of the city are amazing.

Flew into CPT for short layover before going onto Victoria Falls. Reserved one night at the Protea Tyger Valley. The overnight guest services person was less than helpful. For examples: he said he had no numbers for local cabs to get us back to the airport in the a.m.; food services were closed so despite there being a visible fridge,...

Dear Lisa A I am truly sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience at the hotel. The lack of service provided is disappointing and unacceptable. The hotel’s liquor licence prohibits us from serving alcohol after 23:00, however we are able to serve non-alcoholic beverages. Please be assured that we will ensure all the staff are aware of this to avoid...

Excellent Hotel with great views of Cape Town. The check in and check out service was excellent. Very friendly staff at all stations. The room was excellent. Clean and well stocked with basic essentials. Breakfast was great with many options. Dinner was also good. However for the two nights there were no mutton or lamb options. This is not good...

Location great if you're looking for a perfect view of Table Mountain in the evening - however not great if your looking for a quiet room - very close to a major road, cannot open windows at night as the road is extremely busy and noisy.
