Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a delightful guest house situated in an old aristocratic building with a warren of rooms all heavily decorated in period style. The rooms (we had 2 for 1 night) are beautifully appointed with all comforts. My room was very spacious with two windows looking over the adjacent valley. The bathroom, however, was rather ugly, if spacious, tiled in every direction in a mottled and slippery mustard tile, with a shower over the bathtub. Breakfast was spectacular, with many choices, including eggs. A real attempt to provide interesting local fare was made. Parking very easy in the street outside. Highly recommended.

Establishment practicing overbooking. I do not advise you to stay at this location. Reservation made and confirmed, amount charged to the credit card and when arriving at the hotel there was no room available.

Response from Nuno Guimarães, Proprietário at Casa Amarela TH & National Monument
Responded 24 May 2022

Wonderful property within the town proper with easy walking distance to everything within town. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were greeted by a wonderful woman at the door. Come to find out that she had been with this property for thirty years. We saw her many times during our visit and provided guests with an amazing breakfast each morning. Her helpfulness, smile, and attention to detail was certainly an reflection of this property. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Highly recommended!

Stayed one night here on a cycling trip. The situation is perfect right in the middle of town, the building is beautiful both inside and out, and the lady who runs it is wonderful! Couldn’t recommend it enough! Rooms are very nicely finished, and the public areas are quirky and interesting.

The good people who own this luxurious B&B give you the key to their house, literally. It's like you temporarily moved to the manor and you rule over the town, which you can observe thru the huge windows to the center on one side and to the moutain on the other, with the little chapel that sits on top of the moutain shining under the moon. What a treat.

It's a beautiful old building with many antiques in the corridors. The bedrooms are spacious. Good breakfast spread. Some toast would have been nice. Be careful of check-in time. We didn't notice it said until 17.30 (which is really very early), resulting in a phone call when we were still two hours drive away. Fortunately, we were able to check in when we did arrive, but if 17.30 had been enforced, this would have been a major problem. Bathrooms need refurbished. Price is high given Castelo de Vide is hardly a tourist hotspot, and there are better and cheaper options nearby.

Had a lovely stay, great room, very clean, nice people, in the heart of the town. A bit more expensive than other hotels nearby, but worth it. Oh, great breakfast spread as well. The hike to the castle and small homes on the route cannot be missed.

Lovely building, very authentic. Great air conditioning. Requested quiet room and we were given one at the back which was perfect. Big bathroom. Great breakfast. Be aware that only Portuguese is spoken. Leave yourself plenty of time to check out. We checked in advance to make sure they accepted credit cards, but on the day we were there they didn’t/couldn’t. ATM is close by. Although one of ATMs was out of order, the other was ok, so we were able to pay in cash. Took an hour or so to sort out, though, so don’t be in a hurry...

The hotel is located in a historical building and you do get a feeling of the rich history. It's located on the main square, so close to both the castle, Jewish quarters and the park. The staff was friendly. When our taxi to the starting point of our hike was delayed we got a lift of one them. Breakfast was really good as well. Room is big and bathing facilities are perfect after a hot day.
