I always try to write reviews that give as much info as possible, in the hope that fellow travellers might find it helpful and get a little more from their well deserved holiday (click the thumbs up at the bottom if you find this helpful please!) split into 3 main sections, this is a 9 minute read.

Montana Pine Resort, and a definitive guide to the surrounding area.

Accommodation & Grounds
What a lovely hotel in a fantastic place!
If you have chosen Montana Pine, you have chosen well, we had a lovely holiday here and the staff made it special.
Beautifully kept pathways and planting seem to fit seamlessly into the rocky yet lush setting of the surrounding pine forest. Every single member of staff we met, from room maids to management are so friendly, always smiling and always very attentive.
Its a little oasis with 3 pools and snack bars, a sunset terrace, a wellness spar, mini market, mini gym and tennis court.

There are two main types of accommodation.
The rooms to the right of reception tend to be set higher up the steep walkways, almost all of them classed as “standard”. People who experience walking difficulties or mobility issues especially on steep inclines would be advised to ask for lower level rooms, or take the option of a “superior” room.
Standard rooms are quite a bit smaller than the superior version, and set amongst the shady trees, that coupled with the wood panelling inside the room (even the ceiling) makes the standard accommodation seem a little dark at first, however the payoff is that your room will be cooler than the ones in full sun, (the remote control air-con helps a lot too).
Superior rooms all seem to be to the left of reception on a more level setting and are much more modern looking. There is a fresher feel to the room with lots of clean lines, lighter paintwork, less wood and bigger windows with a view.
If like us, you see your room as a big box to keep your clothes in, and 90% of the time spent in there you will have your eyes shut, the standard rooms are perfectly adequate.
However the superior rooms are very very nice, and if you prefer petals on your bedsheets, a robe and slippers, a pool view, proper wardrobes and an easier walk back to your room at night, the upgrade may be worth thinking about.
Handy hint #1
None of the rooms will have many spare electrical sockets, so
Along with your euro adapter, take a short length UK extension cable with a few outlets on it to add more sockets instantly, you can then plug normal UK sockets into the extension and get all those charging cables on the go all at once!

Food 1 (All inclusive)
When reading reviews, peoples thoughts on food seem to be very divisive, mainly down to personal preferences, so I will keep this short. Of course its a canteen style affair for breakfast lunch and dinner. The canteen is nicely laid out, not cramped at all with both indoor and outdoor tables.
Plenty of choice at all mealtimes, always hot, always fresh, even a couple of guys cooking on demand for you! Omelettes, fried eggs to your liking and pancakes at breakfast. Then always grilling or barbecuing something in the evening.
Vegetarian offerings always, but caution needed if your are vegan, as some of the vegan offerings especially the deserts were soaked in honey or milk.
Handy hint #2
You will not find bacon, or in fact any pork products at all in this hotel for obvious reasons, but if you really can’t do without a full English in a morning, head into Hisaranu for English bacon, pork sausages, Heinz beans and HP sauce and everything else to make it the full works for about £6.00.

Food 2 (Eating Out)
Its reasonably cheap to eat out, head to Hisaranu rather than the beach front for more choice. A decent meal with a drink will set you back about £15 per head in most bars and restaurants, the food is mostly good. This is the first holiday in a long time that I would use the phrase “a little hit and miss” for the food we were served. Nothing was bad, all fine, but if you are not adventurous with your flavours, a Turkish kebab tends to be a little bland, after all it really is just chicken on a stick! Try the local dishes, they are a little more exciting to the palate, and I recommend the Andolian spicy chicken dish from the Suntrap bar in the centre of Hisaranu High Street.

Shopping and Prices
Right now (August 2022) the reasonable exchange rate means that eating out, buying gifts, food shopping and having a few drinks are relatively cheap.
As always, don’t go for recognisable international branded goods, they do have a premium on them, buy the local or the Turkish version of whatever it is, its all fine if a little different to what you are used to.
A big bag of Leys (Walkers crisps) will be around 20 lira or basically a quid (very cheap), a bottle or can of beer from a supermarket around 30 to 35 lira (£1.50) for the local brew (Efes). Cigarettes are ridiculously cheap from a supermarket at around 40 lira (£2.00ish) for 20.
Bars and pubs charge around 50 to 55 lira for a pint of local brew which is about £2.50/£2.75 a pint. You will be able to get something like Carling or Guinness along with a choice of ciders, but at over £5.00 a pint, the local Efes was good enough for us!
Buying gifts is a right laugh! All of the goods you will see are complete and blazon knock-offs, yes they are amazingly cheap, but trading standards would have a field day if it were in any other country. For example you can buy a pair of Christian Dior sunglasses from (a shop called) Harrods for £25.00…… yeah… right?
Handy Hint #3
Confused by the money?
Dont be! As long as the exchange rate is around the 20 lira to the pound mark… just do this quick calculation for a round about price.
Take the price of the product, halve it, then move the decimal point to the left, thats how many pounds it will cost you. So 400 lira, in half = 200, decimal to the left is 20.0, so £20.00. It works a treat until you realise that the 5 lira note in your hand is worth about 22p!
Its also very unusual to get coins in your change, we never saw a single coin all week, so expect to be either rounded up or rounded down to the nearest 5 lira, or make a tip!
Handy Hint #4
Its a little risky, but its quite possible that you will get a better exchange rate for GBP when you are over here than pre buying in the UK before you arrive. Even if it doesn’t work out that way, most shops will take both sterling and euros, so you will never be left without a method of payment, however we never tried this in bars or restaurants.

Local Area, Getting Around & Things To Do
Using Montana Pine as your base, moving around is simple….. use a Taxi! It might look walkable, but trust me, the inclines are deceptive and the heat and humidity very hostile to do anything too strenuous.
A short walk down to the security gate and just beyond, you will see a wooden hut with a picnic bench underneath.
Ask the security guard for a taxi, he will press a button in his box and hey presto, within 5 minutes a taxi appears at the bench!
There are two main areas of interest, plus one a little distance away if you want to venture a little further.
Ask for Oludeniz (£4.00ish for up to 4 people) if you fancy a day on the beach or ask for Hisaranu (about £2.50) if you are out on the town for the evening.
A long stretch of small pebble beachfront where you will find plenty of watersports and lots of stands to book experiences like jeep safaris and paragliding. A small amount of shops and places to eat, quite low key and laid back compared to Hisaranu town.
Bit of a strange set up regarding money and paying for things down here. Once you are on the beach itself, or visiting the shops and restaurants along the promenade (not the town area) you have to have a “Lagoon card” which you preload with money to use during your stay on the beach. Then everything from your sun lounger to bottles of water are charged to the card. At the end of the day, you cash your card in at the end booth, and any remaining money is paid back to you in cash.
There must be a reason for it, but I couldn’t see what it actually was!

Hisaranu (Town)
Bright lights, loud music, fun atmosphere, we had some brilliant nights out here. Lots and lots of open air bars and restaurants all along a main high street which is pedestrianised during the evening.
Cocktails, Karaoke, fake goods shopping and all sorts of entertainment to be found here.
I wont recommend any, there are far too many, but look to where people have already gathered, they tend to be the better ones as folk often vote with their feet.

Its quite a trek to here from Montana Pine, but here you will find sunset boat trips from the harbour, and sandy rather than pebble beaches (there are both).
Its a little more urban, you will see cemeteries, residential streets, grocery stores and a more normal set of shops like hardware, furniture, and electrical stores. It has a gritty, back to basics feel about it, but it is genuine and still a pleasant trip if you do want to see it all.

Mosquitoes, Bugs, and can I drink the water?
Mosquitoes are present here, but not in problematic numbers.
A simple deet or citronella wrist band should do the trick, but if you are like me and get eaten alive by the little blighters, get the friendship bracelet type and tie one on your ankle as well as your wrist.
Handy Hint #5
I get bled dry by mosquitoes, but it really helps if you start taking a course of over the counter antihistamine tablets a few days before you travel and during your stay, as the medication for swelling, itching and discomfort will already be in your body.
I have also found over the years that bongela (yes the mouth ulcer gel) works far better than any bite cream or spray if you do get a troublesome one, also Skin so Soft Dry Oil spray from Avon, is as good a repellent than any brand that claim to be the best, both fishermen and the Army swear by it!

Back at Montana Pine, you will notice the constant chirping of the Cicadas, personally I think its a wonderful, tropical sound, but I can see how it could annoy some people. Its simple, just remember they were here first, you are coming into their space not the other way around, and if you need silence to sleep, take some decent earplugs!
Bottled water is plentiful and free in resort but if you need to buy any outside of Montana Pine, it is cheap.
While the local water from the tap would be just fine to drink, just stick to the bottled stuff to avoid any tummy troubles, as its mineral content is vastly different to ours, and could potentially cause an upset.

All in all, Montana Pine Resort is one of the best in this price bracket, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Please remember that service staff in Turkey earn very little compared to the UK, so, even though its not demanded or expected, please tip often and tip well, they will really appreciate it.

My husband and I arrived on September the 26th for a ten night stay. We chose Montana Pine Resort because we had stayed last year and had a wonderful time, and knew how clean and spacious it is, so felt that the social distancing measures would be adequate.
We were temperature checked at the security gate and then again in reception. Everywhere is COVID safe with social distancing measures in place along with sanitiser stations and masks practically everywhere around the hotel.
We stayed in a superior room, which was comfortable and cleaned to high standard daily, with towels and sheets replenished as standard.
Although there was not as much choice for food as the previous year (we completely understood why) it was still of high standard, well prepared and tasty.
The atmosphere the hotel management and staff managed to create in such uncertain times was amazing, and just being back there for ten nights felt like a little bit of normality. The entertainment was again fabulous, and the staff worked tirelessly to make sure all of their guests were catered for. From the housekeeping staff up to the hotel manager, everyone had a smile and time for a chat, even after the uk government announced the closure of the Turkey travel corridor (which obviously came as quite a blow to everyone)
I can not praise the staff of this hotel highly enough, everyone helping out and working in roles that they wouldn’t usually work in. Chefs serving at food stations along with the kitchen staff. However it was also lovely to be able to tell them how much we appreciated them as we wouldn’t usually have the chance. The bar staff, were always friendly and chatty and did a fantastic job with the social distancing measures measures in place.
The jewel in the Montana Pine crown was the staff last year and this year is no different, they work as one big happy family and we were welcomed back with open arms.
A big thank you to the photographer for the stunning pictures he took of us, we are really happy with the results.
Also a special thank you to Abdu who is a lovely hard working young man who kept my husband entertained with table tennis and mini golf, and always makes time to chat with guests. He welcomed us last year and it was so very nice to see him again.
We look forward to seeing you all again next June, thank you Montana Pine Resort for a wonderful, relaxing stay.

The resort is very peaceful and is in an excellent location. We were a little worried about going to an all inclusive post-covid but we called and they said the buffets were open and they still had drink service and the pools were open. They also assured us they were taking social distancing measures. So we booked.

They had just opened a few days before our arrival so there were limited guests. Your temperature is taken before parking, the front desk is wearing a mask and shield. In the room they have masks and hand sanitizer. The cleaner, landscapers, pool cleaners, etc are all wearing masks.

Everyone is super kind and happy to have guests again. All of the meals are buffet and served by the pool. The chef wears a mask, shield, and gloves and he serves the food to you. He puts hand sanitizer on the gloves between the every customer. There is hand sanitizer at the entrance and on the table. The waiters also wear masks and gloves.

The food is high quality and alcohol is included!!!

There are 3 very nice large pools to enjoy. You can also just relax in the shade and get drinks all day. The value here is really good.

We were in another vacation town and people there were not wearing masks and it was a little crowded. Coming here we felt so much more safe and relaxed. We will definitely be back! The resort is great for couples and families. My only complaint is the bed was a little hard but they put a blanket as a topper and that helped.

I can’t think of another headline. As the title states, it really does adhere to guidelines and as a precaution face masks must be worn at all times except by the pool or when eating. Cleanliness cannot be faulted.
I last visited 12 years ago, and as lovely as it is, becoming all inclusive will always change the overall experience of a hotel.
The location is stunning but not suitable for those with any walking difficulties as very hilly.
Taxis are readily available and cheap.
All areas are cleaned regularly and sun loungers are in abundance yet still socially distanced . The pools are well maintained.
There is a pool table and table tennis and some evening entertainment.
I would love to give 5 stars but there are a few issues I have.
The quality of the food is excellent but the choice, especially for a vegetarian, is limited. Due to current restrictions, the available buffet is served by the chef, all ok but he is doing both the starters and desert stations so the queues are long, and if you forget butter, or any condiment you have to go back to the end of the queue, to be greeted by, quite frankly, the very overworked and p’ off chef. Breakfast, again, good quality but 3 chefs in total for 3 stations including eggs and pancakes.
For 4 stars, at least there should be waiters to serve drinks, especially at dinner, and very unhappy to have been asked to leave the restaurant at lunch today 5 mins after service (self) finished. Have now decided to eat out for the rest of our holiday.
Completely understand the current difficulties, but the price should also reflect this.

We came to Turkey for the first time in early September for a ten day holiday looking for relaxation after a torrid time in Vietnam getting caught in the Covid situation in early March.
What a great resort! The setting is fabulous and situated on a mountain side that is well within reach of a beach or inland areas depending on your preference.
The whole resort is well managed and looked after by competent and professional staff who work hard to achieve the highest standards, especially in the current situation. We worked in the industry ourselves so know about how this is done. The price we paid was such value for the experience we received. Food was of a very high quality. Well prepared and served by the staff who took every precaution regarding the current situation. The waiting team were very helpful, cheery and quick to change round tables ensuring effective sanitising of the whole eating area. After dinner entertainment is of a high quality and we were impressed by Abdu's management of the whole daily and nightly entertainment programme.
Our room was a good standard and very well maintained during the stay by the smiling and helpfull staff who always had time to say hello.
The resort is great for couples, families and singles and has much to offer.
We will return next year to enjoy more of this lovely place! Thanks to all of the management and staff who made our stay really special!

Just returned from 2 weeks at this lovely resort booked last minute. Hadn't planned to return to Turkey this year, but in the current climate feel very fortunate to have been able to get away.

The hotel is spotlessly clean & COVID-19 is being taken seriously by both staff & guests. Hand sanitizer readily available throughout the resort, as are masks in the restaurants & at the bar. Our room was thoroughly cleaned each day with water replenished every couple of days.

Breakfast & the snack bar were fine with plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant our first 2 evenings, but did not enjoy the food. This is our personal opinion only as most people did eat in & seemed to enjoy it. We chose to eat out in Hisaronou & found the food reasonably priced.

There were plenty of sun beds although these were reserved fairly early despite signs asking people not too. We chose the Dolphin Pool as it was very quiet. Beach towels are provided in the room on arrival & can be changed at the spa.

The setting is stunning & we loved sitting on the terrace in the late afternoon/early evening enjoying a drink or 3 watching the sunset. Drinks were fine for an all inclusive.

Our room was spacious & while the bathroom was small it was perfectly adequate. The downside was that we were on the ground floor with a small balcony overlooking the main pathway through the lower level of the hotel. This made the room noisy late at night with very merry people returning to their rooms.

Loved the hotel & we will return in the future.

Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so enjoyable.

We went last year for 2 weeks in October19. It closed down for winter after we left around 29th.
I would totally recommend this resort to anyone although It feels more suitable for adults. We went with a couple of friends and our 2 weeks wizzed by.
The entertainment every night was the best we’ve seen. Bands and entertainers from outside the resort were hired and the were excellent! We usually are AI and can take or leave the entertainment teams but this was truly outstanding and a much better idea!
The food was lovely and great variety, usually a fair amount of choice for vegetarians like myself and any dietary requirements you can just ask the fabulous staff.
Rooms were cleaned daily , bright and comfy. Loved the wooden structures and details.
Everything is a short cheap taxi ride away in Hisaronu or you can get a free shuttle bus to olu Deniz beach. You have to pay for beds and brollies but again, it’s cheap. Lots of bars and shops to explore too.
Amazing Bar in Hisaronu called Abracadabra. We visited there several times! They love any rock memorabilia, so band T-shirt’s and guitars etc all over the place! Always very happy with donations lol!
Best Indian you will try is just down the road from the bar and it’s called Shine. Best I’ve EVER tasted! Gets busy in high season!
ALL The staff at the hotel were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. I would 100% return and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.
I’m just in the process of booking again this year.
Fabulous xx

I have visited this hotel for the last 3 years, the last being a week ago.

I have read some of the more negative reviews and this year I have sympathy with some comments. However....

We are under a pandemic with very strict rules including certification that I understand has to be reviewed every 4 weeks.

The hotel owners have taken a massive risk opening realising they won't meet their normal 4* standards in order to give us as good a time and service as is permitted by the restrictions. Other hotels in the area have not taken that risk and not opened. Others were not prepared to spend to get the needed certification and haven't opened. TUI has also pulled from a small number of hotels as they are not up to their Covid standards. So...

Staff serving food are kitchen staff. They are not trained for front of house and don't speak much English. Perhaps the apparent mutterings are discussing with each other and trying to understand our requests

Food choice is limited but again the hotel is running on skeleton staff. In previous years the salad bar would be a walk round help yourself, with plenty of choice. The empty hexagonal bar would normally be filled with various breads, rolls and two toasters.

The pizza oven would be working and the front of house would be serving coffee, tea and alcohol

The Dolpin Bar in normal years would open at 10am and close at 6pm with cakes and rolls at around 16.00.

CROCUS SPA would normally bring round frozen refreshing face towels in mid afternoon to refresh holiday makers.

The spa normally offers a free candle lit Jacuzzi and steam room.

We are in difficult times and the hotel are doing their best. Thank you to all for giving us a fantastic holiday that we thought we would not get this year. We will be back.

We visited last week (first week of July) as a family of 6. We had never been to turkey and didn’t quite know what to expect but this hotel was fantastic.
The rooms were spotless, great showers, complimentary toiletries and hairdryer provided. The maids provided fresh water in the room everyday and the flowers on the bed were an extra special touch. As the rooms were spread across the grounds in bungalow ‘blocks’ there was never any noise at night, air con was powerful and every part of the hotel was a beautiful picture opportunity.
We thought the food was great, good variety every lunch and evening (not much fish, mainly chicken beef and turkey). Salad bar was wonderful every day. For breakfast there was a variety of English breakfast, continental breakfast and they would cook you fresh omelettes, pancakes, crepes etc….
The staff are what really made the holiday though, a shout out to The bar staff especially who were so friendly. The drinks were very good and strong (definitely not watered down!!!) and the choice was great as cocktails included. It’s definitely worth a trip up to the sunset bar before dinner because those views are STUNNING!
The entertainment was also fabulous, especially the live bands and white night where staff went to a lot of effort to make it a great night for everyone.
We were struggling by the end of the week to get a sun bed after 9am though as people would go down and reserve them very early on! We found that staff would remove any of the pool towels that were just lying there with no one in sight which was good. Pools were excellent, we only discovered the dolphin pool bar/bottom pool on the last day as it’s hidden away which was a shame!
Although the boat trip from the hotel was meant to be great it’s rather expensive, especially if there is a lot of you. and we had an AMAZING day out on a boat for only £20pp!!
Taxis to olu deniz only take 5 mins and to fethiye only 30 mins. Although we stayed in the hotel most of the time as It was such a gem hidden away from the craziness in the town. 7 nights was not long enough.

Had a lovely week away staying at Montana Pine Resort, the staff are amazing, very on the ball, friendly and helpful, the housekeeping are so lovely. The resort itself is beautiful, perfect for couples and family stays, so many things to do around the area and the entertain at the resort is also good if you prefer to stay in the resort, montana is in a perfect location inbetween two centres, taxi to those are so cheap. The food was great, highly recommend the cheese omlettes and crepes for breakfast (10/10, perfect!). The cocktails at the resort were also nice.

Felt so safe during these unpredictable times, all staff were wearing masks and the resort is very clean.

Can not wait to return!

How much do sunbeds cost when you use the shuttle bus down to the beach please?

There are lots of different beach clubs where you can purchase beds and umbrellas - if you go into the lagoon typically it’s between £8-£15 dependant on each area and which beach club owns it. There is also a small charge to get into the lagoon which is about £1 per person. Or you can use the main beach for no entrance fee, but still need to pay for beds and parasols.

Poolside dinner ( weather permitting ) is for all guests. Once every fortnight with Turkish Night theme. This year's Gala Cocktail Hour with live music is every Friday before dinner and complimentary.
