I don't normally do reviews but feel I have to after the last negative, as we met this lady and all she did was moan, even about things outside the hotel, but she lived in Turkey for a couple of years so knew it all. Room was cleaned every 3 days if not more (who does that at home, I certainly don't). Toilet rolls daily, bin changed every couple of days, more if you asked. Mirror in bedroom and bathroom, they can't help it if they didn't have the fixing, but tried their best. Bathroom plenty adequate for one person (or 2). Fire info was downstairs, we all know what to do in a fire..GET OUT SAFELY! Our smoke alarm was working. As for breakfast it is Turkish, if you want English or any extras you pay more, but it's B&B, but it was fresh, tasty and more than adequate. As for the aircon, book direct with hotel and it's free so no issues there. Tables were constantly cleaned by Hakan and the rest of the beautiful team, if you had one cigarette they'd be over giving you a new ashtray. Drink glass empty they'd be straight over asking if you wanted another. As for seating, yes chair cushions outside are in need of tlc but it's the end of the season, but had a lot of chlorine covered bottoms sat on them through the day. But they were clean and dry. Sunbeds washed down every morning, as my husband witnessed as he's awake early. Food was spot on throughout the day and night and done to exactly as you wanted if you asked for slightly different. Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel doesn't rely on returning guests, they just rely on people who come on holiday for a good, chilled time, which we will be booking again next year and can't wait. What more can you ask in a holiday than eating good food, in mostly good company, visiting the sights, which they would happily call you a taxi for, sitting by the pool and having a drink. This hotel go above and beyond to cater and help with any issues and ensure you're comfortable and safe. And the staff work tirelessly for bloody long hours to make it a good stay. Also, they have the best pets, just have to mention Efes & Cheryl. Sorry a bit of a long one, but that made me a bit irate. Until next year!!

This excellent family run hotel is both friendly and homely. It’s very clean, with bed linen and towels changed frequently. Breakfast was traditional Turkish with a variety of salad vegetables, cheeses, meat and eggs, fruit, bread with preserves and tea coffee. There are other breakfast options available at an additional charge.
The lunch and dinner menu ranges from snacks to full a la carte dining and is very reasonably priced. Our party dined here several evenings during our stay and each time was thoroughly enjoyable.
The hotel offers rooms or apartments which provide comfortable accommodation. There is a large swimming pool in the well kept grounds and plenty of sun loungers.
The hotel is conveniently positioned in Ovacik close to local restaurants and Dolmus routes to Oludeniz, Fethiye and Kayakoy.
A big shout out to the very attentive staff who made us feel like family. Thank you Ilyas, Gorkam and Mohamed for your first class customer service and thank you to all the staff who made our stay so pleasant.
So many of the guests have returned year after year and I hope we will also be frequent guests

Just back from a week spent at Gorkem hotel. My husband and I have such a lovely chilled time there, the staff were all lovely and friendly, the food was really good as well.
Room was small ,basic but clean, no fridge or kettle though. Pool area was kept really clean and enough sunbeds for the guests, it is only a small family run place with 20-odd rooms so nice and quiet too. Placed a bit away from the main road but easy and quick enough to walk to Ovacik town , 20 min stroll down into Hisaronu also.
Hotel is surrounded by lovely gardens. It’s very close to the mosque so if the morning calll to prayer is something that bothers you, maybe look elsewhere. It only woke me on the first morning as I had the window open.
Aircon is extra, we didn’t need it as our room was to the back of the hotel with no sun coming in the windows so we managed to cope with out it, wasn’t overly warm at all, the charges for aircon is £5 per day.
Definitely worth a visit if you just want a nice quiet chilled out break, I’d defo return again

Our first visit to this lovely family run hotel. Very quiet location and no high rise. Pool area and pool lovely set in nice gardens. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is good too. It's 5 mins to the main road for lot's of bars, shops, restaurants and supermarkets also the local bus is the same distance on the main road and will take you one way into Fethiye or the other way into Hisaronu or Oludaniz. Hisaronu is a nice walk from hotel about 15/20mins and it's buzzing there especially on an evening lot's of shopping and eating places.
The rooms are basic but adequate the shower is great, very powerful and always plenty of hot water. There's a TV but if you like to make a cuppa in your room bring your kettle 😊
Air-conditioning is available at a cost and so are safes which are in reception.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Gorkem Hotel is not what it claims to be:
It has filthy rooms, not cleaned once, just toilet roll/bin emptied, no clean towels, (which are replaced every 3rd day???!) I was told; Not just my room, other guests said same thing. My room had broken old orange varnished furniture, no mirror in bathroom, I asked on 1st day there, was told that a previous guest had "slipped in the bathroom " and broken it, so they were aware there wasn't one, telling me no-one checks the rooms before guests arrive.Bathroom tiny, broken shower head, I got fed up saying anything.Mirror arrived 3 days later, was put up by staff member, but not correctly, as holder didn't fit, was just balanced..another accident waiting to happen
No fire information in rooms, which is statutory in Turkey now, smoke detector in bedroom, but had no light on it, so I guess it didn't work... really cheap breakfast options, which I was told agencies only pay £2 a day for customers. The hotel charges £5 a day for guests to use air con???? Really? I was not paying that ludicrous amount!!

The outside seating was old, dirty tables, filthy bar mats, not enough tables/chairs outside for amount of guests. Sunbeds old and not cleaned.

Food at breakfast really cheap and limited. Bar food was ok, but pricey.
This hotel seems to rely on returning guests, who come for a cheap holiday, go out for meals, and spend most of the time sunbathing,and/or drinking from what observed.
Really disappointed, it doesn't deserve even 1 star, I met some lovely guests though.

Excellent!
The hotel is a perfect place to stay in Ovacik. It is family run and they treat their guests as family. They remember everyone’s name and work very hard and long hours to make your stay there memorable. This is why we return every year.
We stayed in one of the apartments which was spacious with kitchen, sitting area bedroom and updated bathroom.
One of our friends who often stays in 5 star hotels had asked if we could return again this year because they had such a great time. Some of our friends stayed in rooms in the hotel and had no complaints about anything.
The breakfast is traditional Turkish buffet with cheeses, salad vegetables, meat, eggs, raisins, melon, bread and preserves.
The rooms were cleaned and new towels / toilet rolls were delivered every few days. We were able to book excursions with the hotel and they organised transfers. It is a well run hotel and doesn’t deserve the criticism from Caroline1959 who seems to post negative reviews never a positive.
It was nice to see many returning guests and meeting new friends who are also intending to return because they also had a great time.

We stayed a week at Görkem hotel in october 2021. We had a beautiful and clean room and were welcomed by the friendly hotel staff. Everything was super comfortable, the breakfast was really good (they Olive trees grow there, they produce their own olives), the staff also had so much information about the place and helped us organize our trip, recommending us interesting places etc. We also fell in love with the hotel dog and the cat that was visiting us during breakfast. We will come back. :)

This is the first time for me to post a review, but I was so shocked by the comments made by Caroline 1959 that I felt I ought to provide my views.
The hotel is unpretentious but the service levels are exceptional. The family owners and staff work long hours but are unfailingly attentive and helpful.
The breakfast is typical of a local Turkish breakfast and the fare is fresh and tasty. We had evening meals and snacks regularly and found prices to be reasonable and competitive.
The room was clean and comfortable and towels were replaced every few days.
The gardens are well maintained and very attractive.
I am a returnee as are many guests. They must be doing something right!

In view of Covid we had to cancel our usual holiday here this year in June but made a last minute decision to come here in September and how so pleased we did. Although there are restrictions felt very safe and great to see all the Tahanci family again and also big thanks to Mohammed too . The Gorkem is a beautiful place to stay lovely pool and gardens and in a peaceful area but easy enough to travel other places too by dolmus or as we chose this year by taxi which is very reasonable although we did eat in the Gorkem sometimes too as the food is really very good lunchtime and evening. Hopefully all being well we will be back once again next year 🤞
