A well located, old hotel in downtown BA, accessible prices as far as hotels go, although an expensive choice if you're on a tight budget. Elevators are really old fashioned, UPI have to close its doors manually... and I'm not sure if I qualify this as a pro or a con. Actually it's more of a quirky feature: despite being...

If you are only looking for a cheap place to sleep, and can get a room facing the street, it might be O.K. otherwise, the rooms are old, not very clean, and you are likely to get a light well for a view. We walked in, looked at the room. Looked at another room and then went to the hotel...

I was quite fortunate to select this Hotel, because of a very convenient location. It is 5/7 minutes walking distance to Metro and Bus stations It is also near to Rail, Bus & Ferry Terminals. Shops are very near. Leaving Hotel on your right hand side corner there is a Pizza Bar serving probably the best Pizza in BA center....

I didn't have any booking cos my flight been cancelled so plans changed and had to stay longer in buenos aires so I just walked in and booked a room for a night. It was okey, furnitures are a old and tired. I managed to have a good sleep though, nothing special. Overall Argentina is overpriced not just this place,...

We needed a place to stay last minute. I walked around Microcentro looking for a place and this was the cheapest. The guy could probably tell I was desperate and took advantage. I later found out that WE PAID WAY MORE THAN THE STANDARD PRICE. The rooms are small, old and ours had some sort of flying insect infestation in...

First of all it needs to be said that the map seems to place this hotel in a distant suburb which is not true - it is slap bang in the centre and very convenient for Retiro Train/Bus Station. Despite the totally inaccurate info about "closest restaurants" on this TripAdvisor page it is virtually opposite "Filo" - one of the...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
