I strongly recomend this hostal for its warm welcoming and its staff. Ricardo is very helpful for everything you would need. Plus, rooms and bathroom are clean and it is very well situated. It is located in San Telmo area in a very nice, but busy street, and as the hostel is also doing bar and restaurant, it makes sense...

We didn't stay in the hostel but we had a great meal in the restaurant. Our waiter from Colombia was very, very friendly! The food is superb and if you're there please do try the Estofada Belga, it is absolutely delicious, good sized portion and the best meal we had in Buenos Aires.

While exploring San Telmo we came across this gem. A two course lunch special for the two of us including drinks and small gratuity cost $200 pesos. The food was freshly prepared and tasty. The staff member we dealt with was friendly, informative and conversed with us in English (a rarity in BA). Would highly recommend you seek out ViaVia.

I stayed one week in a single room in the ViaVia hostel. It was very lovely and cozy and I felt very welcome. The hostel has an excellent location; centered and in one of the oldest barrios: San Telmo. On Sunday there is the 'Feria de San Telmo' which is located just 33 feet away. The employees are also very...

I really enjoyed my stay in the Via Via! It is a beautiful hostel, everyone was very friendly and I had an excellent breakfast on the terrace in the sun. It is cosy and pleasant place. The rooms are simple, very tidy with clean bedding. I slept in the dormy (=mixed room of six beds, cheap) and there where two...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
