Stayed three Nights. Checked out today. Good spacious room . Good breakfast with variety items. But bad management and less friendly staff. The second day in the morning the power went off. Had to use stairs from 7th floor. No emergency lamp in the stairway. When spoke to the reception, the staff ignoring my complaint told there was no fuel...

We stayed at the Scala Hotel in San Telmo area of Rio recently after our cruise ended in Buenos Aires. It's a four star and deservedly so. The room was first rate, the staff were very helpful, even arranging a dinner and Tango show for us in short notice. There were a number of good restaurants nearby, we had dinner...

This is a very very basic hotel, not fancy, not 5 o 4 stars, the rooms are clean that fills the needs of the traveler, clean and basic beds with small pillows, the bathrooms or little bit larger than traditional bathrooms with just ok towels, cheap soap and shampoo? They include a one use toothbrush, don't know why but they...

Upon checking into Hotel Scala (after 20 hours of travel), we were told our room would not be ready for several hours. Ok, not ideal but I understand. My sister and I then asked for some basic information and directions so we could go out and enjoy the city. Both men working at the front desk could not be bothered...

Well appointed hotel with helpful knowledgeable Front Desk Staff. Close to shopping, restaurants & bars. Street entertainment in the evenings. Rooms large & clean. Safe area for walking. Only complaint was the rumble of the metro trains sounds like jet planes taking off early morning. Tango show was great but starts very late so late pick up & getting back...

We stayed here for 4 days. Breakfast is the best. Lot of choices. Eggs, bacon etc. Rooms are large. Friendly staff, great location, because it is so big it appears not so cosy but we liked it. Would come again.

It's a renovated hotel because everyone knows it around the city.. Very good location close to Subway and bus stations.. Rooms are good and spacious but needs more furniture. Whatever they have are from the 80s.. Bathrooms are good but again needed a fine touch.. Wi-Fi is k, believe me Information Technology still needs improvement in Argentina... Gym is already...

Love its San Telmo location. Our room was large but with little decoration on the walls. It was on the 2nd floor overlooking the patio of palms. Plenty of nearby restaurants and a small Carrefour express store around the corner for getting groceries. Not a complaint but we hadn't even finished checking in and were hit with all the tourist...

I almost hesitated to book here because of the reviews about the staff. We did, and boy were we glad. Mariano checked us in, gave us advice, and looked after us like a professional. He was unreal. I never tip front desk people, but this time I did. Great location, upscale interior, big room, nice shower. What more can you...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
