If you don't feel comfortable walking in a tough neighborhood this is not the hotel for you. The hotel is only a couple of blocks off the main square, but the streets and buildings around the hotel are not what many tourists from the USA would be comfortable walking. The hotel inside is nice, the rooms are big and for...

I must confess that I did not what to expect after reading some reviews. As other reviewers have already noted the hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. After a 9 hour flight I arrived to the hotel well before the check in time ( 3pm). The staff was incredibly accommodating and allowed me to check in an hour earlier. The...

Moreno Hotel is advertised as a "boutique" hotel, chic and well located. Well..... None of that is quite true. Let's see: (1) The hotel is boutique because it is a small property as compared to hotel chains; (2) the chic part would probably have applied 10 or more years ago when they did the hotel, but by now it is...

First something on Buenos Aires. i was there 15/16 years ago on business and always wanted to return because then thecity made an impression on me. Big mistake. Buenos Aires stood still for 15 years. The ciry is badly maintained, lots of dirt in the streets, crime is all over. I should have stayed with m]the memory. The hotel was...

This hotel is kinda of funky with lobby on second flr and old-style elevators that have gates. The rooms are quite huge compared to other hotels we stayed in during our 2 wks in Argentina. Best thing is the location: just around the corner from Defensa for the big sunday market, 10 minutes walk to Puerto Madera to see that...

I spent a night in a loft room and enjoyed a nice, quiet, clean, full of space, light, and nice furniture, time. It is a place you need to try, ask the receptionist to show you the rooms, you will be surprised.

This was my first trip to Buenos Aires, so I was really wanting to make sure I found a hotel that was not only strategically located, but one that was going to give me a decent night's sleep and breakfast. I was not disappointed in the least. Located in the San Telmo neighborhood, the hotel is situated far enough away...

This Art Deco hotel was charming. Our teenage granddaughter was delighted with the old-fashioned elevator, and we all enjoyed a well-made and generous breakfast. Our room was comfy and the neighborhood was good for sightseeing, shopping, and participating in Feria San Telmo, an outdoor market (with dancing, the day we went). The staff was friendly, kind, and very helpful. We...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
