Lou and Kevin have created an absolutely wonderful holiday experience on their Estancia, filled with dreamy rides in a beautiful setting, delicious Argentine food and wine and warm & genuine hospitality. My husband and I stayed on the Estanica on the second leg of our honeymoon, after visiting Mendoza. As our trip had been planned by our travel agent, Abercrombie & Kent, we didn't quite know what to expect from this stay other than that there would bee some horse riding and that we were staying on a working ranch. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome and looked after. All meals were taken together by the small group of guests that were staying on the Estanica, and each night our seats at the dinner table were switched up, so as to give us an opportunity to get to know more about our fellow guests. Each meal served was delicious and we never lacked wine to accompany it. We did two rides each day, with exceptionally well trained horses who were able to handle experienced and novice riders alike. It was particularly fun to ride the Peruvian Pasos with their lovely trot and our riding groups were split to match riding ability within the groups. Each member of staff was engaging, passionate and friendly - special compliments to the chefs in the kitchen and on the BBQ! Staying on the farm with its many animals and small group of house guests felt like a perfect escape from city life - specially as there is basically no mobile signal or wifi! Would love to come visit again sometime in the future!

Los Potreros features a herd of more than 80 excellent horses, both Peruvian Pasos and Criollos. Rides are mostly walk or trot (or paso llano) with occasional canters if the ground is suitable. Other activities the week I was there included a short polo session (more fun than I expected), a swim near a waterfall, and a cattle roundup in which guests participated. In the evenings, entertainment included a wine tasting, a local singer/guitarist, and learning to prepare empanada. All the meals were very good. But what impressed me even more was the level of service--if I stood still for a moment, one of the very friendly young women working as volunteer guides would offer me a lemonade, water, tea, or something stronger. I have never felt so pampered.

This review is a little late as I stayed in October 2019 but I definitely want to leave a review. I had an amazing stay here, I honestly could not fault a single thing! From the amazing food (which always seemed to appear at just the right time) and chefs night, the fantastic hosts and guides who were so knowledgable and patient, the cosiest room, the stunning location (with no mobile phone signal but satellite WiFi if you need it which meant there was a good community spirit), the sweet dogs, the best horses...after I left I went to Córdoba city and spent a good hour crying because it was over! I will definitely be back and I hope to be able to persuade a friend to come with me!

It's not easy to put into words how much I enjoyed my visit to Los Potreros, or put my finger onto what made it so special but it really is the most wonderful place. From the moment you are whisked off from the airport climbing up into the hills, then bumping along a track, spying horses through the long grass and cattle resting in the shade, it feels like you are on a proper adventure. On arrival you're greeted by the lovely and really friendly guides, who will entertain you throughout your trip, always there with a smile and a story about the estancia. We stayed in a little casita, with a beautiful terrace and my morning wake up call came from the mare and foal outside my window eating apples from the orchard and birdsong. The rooms are simple and cosy, with plenty of hot water in the showers and deep baths ( appreciated after a day in the saddle!) The food is not only delicious but ample (and those cakes!) - we especially enjoyed the evening spent in the kitchen learning how to make empanadas ( apologies to Claudio and Paula the chefs.....we were not as talented as them!) Each evening we sat on the verandah with a gin and tonic watching the sun begins to set – often with one of the beautiful dogs at our feet, watching the humming birds zip around the garden and swallows swooping through the treetops. For someone who spends a lot of time commuting on the tube in the city it was a little slice of heaven! But for me, the horses are probably the most magical part of all. I was lucky enough to ride lots of different horses, and each time I rode back to the estancia saying ' This is without doubt my new favourite...' and each ride that changed! From the beautiful Muchacho to fairytale maned Francisco and all the ponies in between - they are all matched so well to their riders, and made the whole experience so perfect. And I think it's important to point out that not everyone who visited the estancia whilst I was there was a rider, there were several non-riders who were happy to have a go, and horses to suit all levels. The views across the hills are breathtaking, and the light as the sun sets is golden as you ride across the valleys. The polo is such fun, we had a mix of experienced players and total beginners and we all spent more time laughing than anything else! Los Potreros is perfect for proper escapism - and somewhere you can switch off and relax. The guides, gauchos, Kevin and Lou and your fellow guests become firm friends - and if you are looking for a little glimpse of argentine life, this is the place for you. It's not a 5* luxury hotel and spa with all those bells and whistles – and that’s what makes it so special. It’s authentic, it’s real and I wouldn’t change a thing.

All the way around, Los Pots delivered! Comfy beds, completely relaxed atmosphere, amazing food (and wine!), the world's best horses and guides/gauchos, dogs, land, sky, sunsets, etc. But by far, the best part of the whole trip was the people. I'm not sure how Lou, Kevin and B do it week after week, but our entire family felt like we were a part of their family. An incredibly unique and authentic experience that has changed the way I want to travel from now on. We can't wait to return. Thank you!
