It is a little far from the town centre, which could be a drawback, for us it was just perfect. A quiet place far from everything else and perfect to disconnect. The bungalows are very basic but enough to spend a nice time and rest between excursions. The town itself has nothing to enjoy and this is why the tall trees surrounding the rooms, Nano, the lovely sweet dog, Hugo, the caretaker, and its helpful owner make it a very comfy option. There's no restaurant or winery at all, it is a real pity it is so neglected as the views are lovely. Rather expensive for what they have to offer. More

Reviewed 31 January 2012

We were there for three days a week ago (January 2012) and the place is VERY reasonably priced (especially compared to the two big hotels/cabañas in the area). Hugo, the caretaker, was very warm and eager to offer advice and tips regarding things to do. Cabañas were well equipped with a large bedroom with a queen sized bed and two twin beds in living/dining area. Kitchenette with stove, oven and kitchenware. Haras San José has a lovely pool and great surroundings with vineyards around the houses. Restaurant is pretty good and reasonably priced. Their own Torrontés wine is very good (didn't try their red).
Villa Unión doesn't really have much to offer but it's a great point from which to go to Laguna Brava (amazing lake at 4600m above sea level), Talampaya National Park and Ischigualasto Park (aka Valle de la Luna).
