Twenty kilometers outside El Calafate on the way to Perito Moreno Glacier you really need a car to stay here. It would be possible without one, but you will likely spend more on taxis than the rental. El Galpon is a working sheep ranch that is an interesting agritourism stop even if you do not stay here. The grounds are... More

From the moment we arrived at El Galpon del Glaciar we were treated with such kindness and respect. The 3 young ladies who are here to work during the summer from Buenos Aires were an absolute delight and so very helpful. The room was cozy and warm with a beautiful view of Lago Argentino, and the horses and sheep from... More

El galpon is almost in between El Calafate and glaciar national park. You can get in the national park with 40 min driving in nice landscape. Also 35 min driving to El Calafate. El galpon has really nice view. They offer other excursions in the ranch that I can recommand. Breakfast and dine was very enough. Hotel location is really... More

Great place to stay. Best food we had in Argentina. Great service. This is an older ranch with a lot of character. Fun sheep shearing show and Tango show with dinner. Very quiet and comfortable. It's a few miles from El Calafate but a taxi is very affordable. Do not miss Perito Moreno Glacier.

Absolutely fabulous experience at this quaint ranch 20 km from Glacier Morano. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the staff second to none. They offer several horseback riding treks which would satisfy riders of all abilities. Imagine riding horseback to the glacier or riding to the top of a mountain which gives panoramic views for miles including the Glacier, Largo... More

The ranch is beautiful and the staff is excellent! A quiet and peaceful ranch. Food is great... No need to leave the grounds to go into town! Nor will you want to with the views. Can go horseback riding, head to see the glacier, or just relax. Could not ask for a more beautiful place to end our trip to... More

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were cozy and warm, the food was the best we had on our trip, and the staff was incredible. Everyone was so friendly and happy. We highly recommend this place for anyone staying in El Calafate that wants a piece of nature near the city. The panoramic views are gorgeous. We enjoyed a... More

Stayed here for 3 nights to tour the glacier and really enjoyed the ranch itself. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Jamaica. Took the evening tour which included shepherding, shearing, bbq, and tango show. The outdoor experiences were interesting and fun. The tango show was very short and only part of it was tango. Also enjoyed walking around and horseback... More

The individual rooms are a bit outdated, and the bathrooms are cramped, BUT the property is so beautiful that it doesn't matter. We spent our first day just wandering around the grounds, watching all the animals and wildlife and petting the horses. We saw all kinds of animals - flamingos, ducks, some sort of ibis-looking bird, big hawks, some other... More

Surrounded by kilometers of shore by both Lago Argentino and the Centinela River, this lodge is a wonderful base to explore the Patagonia wilderness. We came here after weeks of trekking Torres del Paine and El Calafate, so it was nice to just unwind. The beds were rather old, but we enjoyed that over our sleeping bags and refugio bunk... More
