Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent one night here before heading to our ship. We had room 19 on the first floor. The room itself was fine - lots of amenities with a nice bed, but the bathroom, although looked very modern had problems. Not sure how this had not been fixed if other guests had stayed in this room, but the door would not close. As it got close to the frame it would bounce back. Also the security bar in the tub/ shower was not securely fastened to the wall. To be fair, they did offer us another room but since we were only here one night and it was already getting late when they told us they couldn’t fix it, we stayed. We had already unpacked as well. Hotel is in good location just a few blocks up from the main street. Breakfast is served on the 4th floor with beautiful views of harbor.

The rooms are very comfortable and have really nice views. The bed and the pillows are very good. Most hotels have a very simple breakfast, but here they offer an outstanding breakfast. I am also more than satisfied with the service. This hotel is reasonably priced.

The receptionist at this hotel was exceptional.. we have been travelling South America for 5 months and honestly she went above and beyond to help us on Christmas Eve as most of the restaurants in town were closed. Her English was excellent and she was knowledgeable and friendly. She deserves a promotion!

Excellent hotel, modern bathrooms and great service. It is rated 3 stars but compared to other 3-star hotels, it is way superior. The only thing I did kit like is its location, but it is close enough to the Main Street. The rooms are renovated, spacious and clean. The breakfast is delicious. They have complimentary coffee and hot chocolate every day in the afternoon. Highly recommend it.

After travelling for nearly two days flatout without much sleep at all, we were really looking forward to a comfy bed and a good kip, which is exactly what we got when we managed to get the room to a normal temperature as both radiators in the room and bathroom were on full whack and with it being a smll basement room it held the hart really well. All good after 10 mins with windows wide open, and radiators off. We booked through an agent that we had used for our Antarctic Cruise, and although we stipulated a double bed with possibly a good view the agent did not pass on this information and so we ended up in twins in a basement room (no fault of the hotel directly). Unfortunately the staff had no other rooms available to move us into, but said they could look into it for our second (and last) night, but we didn't want the hassle of having to pack again and move everything when we were heading out early the next morning, so we kindly declined. The breakfast was included in our rate, with plenty of mainly cold foods (although some small pieces of warm hotdogs and eggs). Breakfast was on the fourth floor, and the views were spectacular (see photos). We could see the ship from the window (that was supposed to be taking us to Antarctica - separate review to follow but please beware of more recent reviews of Ocean Victory if you are thinking of booking). Next door to the breckfast room was a coffee machine and pastries available to guests anytime, which was a lovely touch. The reception didn't make us aware of this, but my partner had spotted this on someone else's review fortunately. Again, the views while you are having a coffee are amazing. Stupidly forgot to pack out converters, but reception were kind enough to borrow us one for our stay. Location is ideal, everything in Ushuaia seemed easy to stroll to, it's only a few mins to the main shopping street, and only 5 mins walk to the port. Would highly recommend this place, but ask for a view because that is a massive key feature to this lovely little place.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which had a well equipped kitchenette and very comfortable bed. Most of the time it was quiet, but you can hear people in the next room from the living room, but not from the bedroom with the door closed. Breakfast was included, and provided sufficient options, but not much for vegans. Overall, a very pleasant stay, very walkable to all goods and services and the port. The only issue was with an occasional foul odor in the living/kitchen area.

We selected this hotel based on the great reviews and the fact that it was significantly cheaper than most options in Ushuaia. We were greeted warmly on check in by two fantastic members of staff - they couldn’t have been more helpful and made us feel incredibly welcome. The hotel is well located - close to the Main Street but far enough away to be quieter than those located here. The room was good - clean, comfortable bed, hot shower, TV which allowed access to Netflix (loved this). No ‘frills’ but everything you’d want and more than you would expect for the price. There’s a coffee machine on the top floor allowing free access most of the day (another great touch) and this is located in a room with a superb view of Ushuaia. When we checked out, Ivana (one of the receptionists) gave us the most sincere, lovely goodbye we’ve ever had at a hotel. The staff here really are brilliant. Would really recommend this hotel as a perfect option in Ushuaia.

We have stayed in one other hotel in Ushuaia, and there is no comparison between the two. But let me focus on the positives of Alto Andino. The staff were welcoming and helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to airport transportation. The property is modern and offers all the amenities you would want. One of the nicest aspects of this hotel is the top floor which hosts breakfast in the morning (which is very good), and a scenic lounge with coffee machine the remainder of the day. We stayed here before and after our trip and had wonderful experiences both times. The location was also good as it was within walking distance of everything in town, but far enough away from the main street to have some peace and quiet. I would recommend Alto Andino to anyone visiting Ushuaia.

I wish I could give this hotel a +10. My cousin and I stayed at Alto Andino Hotel two nights before our expedition to Antarctica/South Georgia/Falkland Islands. We had read positive reviews from prior guests so decided to give it a try. The rooms and furnishings are clean and comfortable. The location is close to the port (although you will have to take a taxi because of uneven pavement between the hotel and the dock). Maria Lola Restó, our very favorite restaurant in Ushuaia, is within a couple of blocks of the hotel. The buffet breakfast at the hotel is excellent. You'll eat it while enjoying panaramic views of Ushuaia and the ocean. The staff is helpful and friendly. They exchanged our US dollars into Argentinian pesos at a great rate and also set us up with a private tour of Tierra del Fuego. What meant the most to us, though, is that when we checked out, to our surprise, we were invited to return at the end of our expedition to store our suitcases and hang around in the lobby or upstairs with a cup of coffee until we needed to catch our flight. This was at no extra charge. We felt like family. Other people on our ship who had stayed at different hotels, where not welcomed back even when they asked to store their luggage or sit for awhile. We absolutely will stay at Alto Andino Hotel if we return to Ushuaia and highly recommend it to anyone awaiting an expedition or touring Tierra del Fuego!
